Wooden Keyboard Case

So I’ve searched, and haven’t seen anything… I really want to make a wooden keyboard case for my wife. She is heavily into keyboards, specifically the Rainy 75 (if anyone cares). Does anyone have a source to obtain CNC keyboard files?

I found these:

I know there was another one, but I can’t find it.

When I did mine I had the advantage of having designed the thing so I had a full .step file for the assembly that I could base that around and I wasn’t trying to match an existing part so no harm playing with it until it just looked right.

If she already has the keyboard then my approach would be to dismantle it, remove the existing frame, take a bunch of measurements, fully model it and then probably 3D print it (in sections, potentially) to verify fitment before milling anything. The shape looks pretty straightforward and would be a good exercise in recreating something like that. If you haven’t done anything like that before then I’d start by getting a decent pair of digital calipers and some cheap radius gauges. With that equipment and a bit of patience it’s amazing what you can do in terms of reverse engineering physical objects. Everything about that case looks easy to model.

A slightly more hardcore approach would be to remove the frame and find a way to 3D scan it.

Alternatively, you could contact the seller and ask if they can provide a 3D model for the part you need but I suspect that’s a bit of a long shot. Doesn’t hurt to try, of course.
