Finally got it moving the right way…one thing done
No sound, but it runs so smooth !!!

This should be on the main build page.
Has anybody added any LED lights to their LR4 ? If so, can share experience and how-to ?
Thanks
Well, I’d wait for others to comment on how to do it the normal way. I know you can connect them directly to the Jackpot and can control them on/off via gcode.
Then there’s me in crazy mode. I have LEDs on my LR3 with a Jackpot using a WLED controller with custom firmware that monitors the status and automatically sets a lighting preset based on it. It also overlays white LEDs over the current X position.
I add a strip across the bottom of mine from 24v COB LEDs and hook it straight to the 24v power supply for the Jackpot. Any time its on the LEDs are on. It works quite well. I have some 3d printed parts that go with the screws for the bottom strut that help hold things in place.
Jason, your lights are awesome, but as you pointed out I’m more into the “normal way” lot.
Wish I had the time and patience to do things like that but when it comes to writing for configurations I’m a 0.
Thanks for sharing
I’ll give it a look now and see…Jonathan can you share the 3D printed parts, so I have something to start with?
Thanks
Here you go. One is different, I use that at the end where I solder the wires to the LED and put heat shrink
LR4 Under Beam COB LED Holder.zip (121.4 KB)
This is the strip I use… Amazon.com
Reprinted some parts on PET-CF as some are deforming under load from the heat, I live in a very warm place.
Hope this time they hold up fine…PLA is fine but direct heat will make it soften and deform so quickly .
I’m near Santa Pola the next few days and yeah I don’t think PLA would survive on the terrace. Me either come to think of it
I don’t know how they cope in Madrid!
I’m in a town in lleida, it’s 9:42 am and it’s already 30 degrees, will hit 40’s by 4 pm… that’s under shade so around 46-48 under sun…black PLA will probably get around high 50…too much for it
That’s why I want to enclose it too, noise, cold and heat…we’ll see how it turns out at the end.
Santa Pola is a warm place but being at the coast site does not get as hot, but humidity can be a pain, so be ready to sweat as a fountain
If you’re on holidays enjoy it !!!
That starts to happen above 50C, usually the only way that happens in real life is if it is hot…and in direct sunlight.
It is indeed hot over here, but it’s under and an awning and a plant sunshade, but the air is so, so hot that things get really warm…even the stainless steel tubes are hot.
That’s why I try to keep it covered most of the time, but need to get going and makes it very difficult these days.
But hey, I’m nearly there wiring is done, so through the week late at night I’ll try and make it run and draw the crown.
Meanwhile, I’ll give it a go on how I want to approach the LED thingy.
Yep, fingers crossed to have some rain on Thursday and see if temps drop a few degrees…it’s been a nightmare for the last 2–3 weeks.
Thought of you when I saw this today, hope you’re OK.
It only takes just a fraction of a second to suffer a pretty serious burn. Asphalt and concrete in direct sunlight can often reach surface temperatures as high as 82 Celsius (180 Fahrenheit) on the hottest days, said Dr. Kevin Foster, who directs the Arizona Burn Center in Phoenix.
With these elevated temperatures comes increased risks of burns from falling on the ground or touching surfaces that are much hotter than the recorded air temperature. This is especially true for exterior surfaces such as asphalt or car bodies, where materials like metal can reach extreme temperatures. Dark-colored vehicles, in particular, can absorb more solar radiation and become up to 50% hotter than lighter-colored ones.
Yes it’s hard to work outside as I do for a living under sunlight these days over here, and I never get used to it, no matter how many years I’ve been doing it, the older I get the worse I cope with it
The more time I spend here the more siesta makes sense.
