New LR4 Build in Catalunya

Not stupid. I completely agree.
I’ve got a collection of Ryan’s hand-signed thanks from my orders.

For me it’s one of the best parts in the box of goodies.

That and the rubber duckies…

Aye, though I reckon if anyone can be more genuine if they are packing orders with a robot rather than by hand, it’s Ryan…(naturally assuming a homegrown bot!) ;p

Got my tubing cut to desired size, new to using a grinder so I decided to adapt a design cutting jig to get the tubes cut nice and safe.
Now back to assembling !!!

Slowly getting there…
Is it me or assembly on LR4 is far easier, and nuts are more accessible than on LR3 and LR2 ???

Hardware is easier, wires get the complaints now…Can’t win em all. :joy:

I’m finally going to rebuilt my table top, it’s been exposed to rain (although covered) for too long and as I intended to make it wider and longer, it’s a good time to rebuild it and build it properly.
And I’ll have time to design how I’m going to enclose it and make it waterproof.
So it will take a bit longer to see the LR4 running on it.
I’ll do some wiring while I wait for the wood pieces to get cut to size, going to build it with the cross structure to hold the spoil board.

Slowly getting the table done…it’s been rainy here lately :man_facepalming:

Done some painting already, now need to figure out enclosure :man_facepalming:
Will change spoil board too to extend it to the side rails, but first I want to see it running.

Wife is about for divorce after seeing the size of this table :joy::joy::joy: she’s a star !!!

It’s been raining every weekend and days in between, very rare over here where I live :disappointed:
So, I have had not a single window of good weather to keep moving forward, and this next weekend it looks like it will be rainy again, I’m desperate :worried:

When I bought my mountain bike, it rained for about 30 days straight.

Today I had some sun and did some work, but it’s a pain when you have some spare time and weather ruins your plans, but hey !!!
We need rain too, so I’ll have to cope with it !!!

Had some time to go forward on the LR4 assembly…it’s been 36 degrees these past days and working at the terrace is killing me but got some work done and I’m happy for that !!!

Enclosure is still under works :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Enclosure structure nearly done, wiring nearly done too…needs tidying up and then if I have time the next coming days will fire it up and see if everything runs fine.

I was thinking about that ledge at the bottom of the side plates, that the wiring has to be pushed in past it, and on a couple of occasions I had that ledge to snap off, and I basically glued it back in place after positioning the wires. My thought today was… what if that ledge was a separate print, that could be attached with screws or snapped in place? It would be so nice to just put the wires in where they go, and then either snap that ledge in place or screw that ledge in place.

I had the same thought, I had to pry the wires in and nearly broke them off and thought if it did come off I’d make a replacement with holes for m2.5 self tapping screws

I could be wrong here. But I believe the reason behind it being integrated the way it is was to hold the wires better. So far after 15ish builds I have only broken one. And not all the way off. That was on one of the beta’s. I learned quickly to be patient and just try to get one wire at a time and work them in slowly. It isn’t the easiest thing to do, but its extremely clean after the fact. Having something that needed to screw or snap in place would open up a lot more “my parts don’t fit right” post due to printer issues. Ryan does his best to design for a wide range of printer tolerances so I don’t think this is something that needs to really change. Believe me I get the frustration. But if you do mess up and break it, its easy to glue it back on and then you never really see it again. My guess is it would be fine without it there at all. Not at all saying you guys are wrong, just looking at it from the other side.

Finished tidying up the board box wiring, had to stop due to an alarm on the mobile of summer storm, suddenly wind went from 0 km/h at 40 degrees to 50 km/h at 30 degrees in 2 minutes, had to cover everything up, just in case it finally rains.
I will try to do some more work overnight when temps are lower, my poor old brain boils when it’s so hot outside.

Wiring issues are not that terrible in my opinion, only had a bit of a hard on first side build, once this was done and using the tips second one was easier, and it looks really clean.

Well I’ll post some photos once I move forward before starting the monster.

By the way, I have an iPad mini (5th gen I think), can I use it to control it ? And what do I need to install to do so?
Is @vicious1 Ryan board already configured to run ? I bought a card too from the shop, do I just slide it in ?

This is the hardest part for me…hardware is fine

Thanks

Which ledge are you pointing at ? Can’t figure it out
