Kill() called

-SKR-PRO-V1.2 purchased from ali express
-24V Power supply
-No limit switches connected
-When I press the manual jog on Repetier Host V2.3.1 and on the display the motors turn a fuzz then stop and I get the Error: Printer halted. kill() called!
I have tried both the end stop firmware and the non endstop firmware. Also tried with the display disconnected. Same Error

New to the SKR-PRO-V1.2 have an older MPCNC with Ramps1.4 but never got it running in a way I was happy with giving it another attempt.

It also says coil short circuit a few times. I think this is s2vsb.

I checked my power and motor inputs both 24.3V. Verified power inlet is not shorted. Checked fuses none blown and seem well connected. Stepper connections appear tight. Replaced the driver jumpers. Swapped my extra driver to the other positions. Manually jogged after each change to check and received the same error.

Is there a way I can check where the short circuit is coming from, what is/ where is the Xb Coil? Does the M80 error mean the board doesn’t know what to do with that command?

Do you have a software-switchable power supply? M80 turns that on, but I believe it needs to be enabled in the firmware. I’ve only ever seen that when using a PC power supply that supplies 5v standby to run the logic power but needs the 12V rails turned on for the heaters and motors.


This is what I am using.

M80 is a red herring.

The wiring issues reported in your log are between the TMC driver and the motor. It may be a short in the stepper cable, a short in the stepper itself, or a short in the skr board.

In the picture, it is just sitting on a table. Make sure there isn’t anything shorting the pins on the underside of that board. Look closely for any poor solder joints there too.

Given the screen pic of your power supply, it won’t be software switchable, so (when you’ve got your other issue sorted out) I’d check your Start gcode areas for the M80 command and remove it or comment it out. Low priority in the face of your other issue.

Interesting. I gave the board a good inspection with a magnifying glass and didn’t notice any poor soldering. Continued the flopping around of the driver and motors to see if I have a combination that worked didn’t find one. Probably a silly question but does the board know when the motors are connected, don’t get an error if I try to move an axis with no stepper connected. Anything else I should test or maybe the board is a dud?

I had the same error it turned out that my motor had a another coil configuration - try to switch the two wires in the middle.
