[FR] TS-Rider - LR3-LR4 conversion

Ah yes, the P-DA board. Metered everything on that this past weekend, see my latest posts on “frickin laser beams” for more detail.

From what I have found, at least on the 60w is there should be plenty of headroom to power everything from the Lasertree brick. Assuming one came with your device. Plug it into the P-DA board and in the alternate output you can get 24V constant. I pigtailed a JST cable off that to power to Jackpot. Then you can plug the laser in and make sure the switch is in EXT mode so it uses the LT power brick.

So as long as the power brick is powerful enough, you can plug the Lasertree brick in 7, power the laser through 2, and should have 24v with enough left over amperage for the jackpot in 1.

Then any PWM and gnd from a 5V GPIO on Jackpot to any Input. Don’t have to worry about the 12/24V it asks for.

It’s a Bird, it’s a bat! It’s a drone!
Nope! It’s a P-DA-01 support!

LR4 ready to “pew-pew"

Laser installed and configured, now I only need to install the Y axis on the table to cut the struts

I love that mount, well done!

Just had my first pew pews a few minutes ago, good luck on yours!

Got it on the table and homing…

Lots of problems though…

Wifi only works in AP, belt supports need a better install (don’t have a long screwdriver right now…)…
Oh and I already busted a belt…

Well, this will have to wait til the holidays

more info on your issues and maybe we can help out.

Pretty simple issue I think: my table is crap, I need to clean up and rebuild it, plus it was late and had 2 cocktails before :stuck_out_tongue:

Very simple solution to all of these : sit and relax, have a good night sleep and take my time

So… bought new belts, had a good sleep, and back at it…

The table is still a bit rough but I removed the trim and the old spoilboard and cut a part where it lifted under the Y rail

I decided to use 2 mdf plinths as “tracks" for the Y axis.
Printed a template using @franklyrosalind‘s
Torsion LR4 table generator and used it as a guide to drill the belt supports holes and install the plinth on the existing table

Very happy with this, it’s nice and simple, and fool-proof

I aligned the plinth’s edge and screwed through belt holders and plinth into the table
Same process on the other side with a few bradnails to keeps everything in place

I made a custom xmin/ymax belt holder that can take an M3 screw for Y-Max homing too

And then…

Now I need to square the machine and laser-cut my struts

I drew a 1200mm diagonals rectangle in f360
Put some blue tape and burn some marks..
Measure the diagonals, put the numbers into cad, and you can see the skew

From my F360 calculation file I needed to back-off 3mm
Set the adjusting screw, put on some new tape, rinse and repeat until diags are both 1200mm

Small customization to celebrate…. Not a crown but hey….

Looks great! Makes me want to work on my LR4 build tomorrow.

What are you thinking about LR3 vs. LR4?

Share a video of your laser cutting the strut plates please. Something I never thought of with the LR4 is being able to use a laser with temporary struts with no issues. Awesome!

Actually laser-cutting the struts is far easier

No stress on the gantry, little to no leveling needed…

My LR3’s struts were also lasercut btw

Right now I don’t really have any idea, the build and finish feels a lot more mature, but I mainly wanted to gain some rigidity in cutting…

We’ll see when I get it actually cutting

Cuts like butter. Nice job!

Wow, your LR4 looks great Fabien! Maybe you can partner with Festool to make a CNC router. :oncoming_fist:

I’d love a Shaper Origin… a man can dream

Not after what they did to Cam/Compass.

Can’t say I’m happy with this… I’d still buy one if I had the money though…

On another note: I’m planning on adding some LEDs under the struts

Did anyone design a support or something?
Something a bit cleverer than this quick mockup?

Where did you plug the LED strip on the jackpot board
