Shows that there seems to be a need for it, filling a gap that FluidNC seems to have.
It is possible to get battery staus? Charging, etc …?
There’s a charging light that turns green when fully charged. I’m going to try adding a voltage divider so I can read the voltage. That should be possible on the advance display but not the basic display.
have advanced and 8000mAh battery
My second is v1.4 too, but on the website was written 1.3. Was yours withouth safety foil?
V1.3 I mount 8000mAh battery… but red power led is still on. After power off. Will see if it change color after full charge. Charging shows only 2W …
I should receive a 1.4 in the next days as well. Happy to test the buttons.
I added two boxes/channels on the bottom plate which cover the buttons on the board, so it guides the pins and keeps them in place. And I made the printed buttons longer so I can still press the short buttons. They a bit loose in the case, but it works. However I think some kind of 3d printed spring buttons would be better.
Same - I got the boot switch replaced and ripped all the pads off the reset being stupid removing the broken switch. The pads on the Elecrow are a bit fragile.
My guess is they were getting a lot of people ripping the old version of the tall switches. The ones on the 1.3 are way too easy to break off. I didn’t even realize I had broken them off at first and was quite gentle assembling the case. Both switches were wrecked and unusable. Stuff happens.
Excellent job on the stand. Printed great and fits perfectly.
After 2 days of charging … still nothing changes. Red is lighting … exist some info about charging lights?
Will be god to see the battery status.
It is possible to control spindle too?
I have tried charging for a long time also and the light never turned green on mine either. I bought some switches and printed @jeyeager case. Now I just turn off the switch and the battery lasts a lot longer.
Note that if you have the switch, the switch has to be on in order for the battery to charge.
I turn on the switch when I’m charging. I also power down the display. Should I leave the display on also?
That doesn’t matter.
Well, good news and bad news on measuring the battery. The good news is I can do it despite my crimes against electronics. The bad news is that the voltage divider messes with the onboard charging so it will only charge for a short time. So, I think that kills the idea.
I used 2 1M ohm resistors and a 0.1uF capacitor.
It might be worth trying to see if you can figure out what IC they use to charge the battery if you are particularly interested in knowing what the battery voltage is. Some of those charging chips have the capability to report state of charge over I2C or similar.
Well, I have no idea how to do this and I’ve not worked with the LiPo batteries to any degree. But, with Li-ion batteries, they make multi-segment LED “fuel gauge” arrays that I have used to monitor the charge/re-charge state of those batteries. If I remember correctly, they are just wired in parallel with the load and the fuel display is just mounted on the case.
To avoid draining the battery, a momentary switch is used to briefly turn on the fuel gauge. Otherwise, it’s not active.
Since we don’t really NEED to have a continuous readout of the battery status, but simply some idea of whether the unit needs to be charged, could some sort of approach like this work? I think some of these “fuel" displays are pretty small but I have no idea how they might be integrated into the FluidTouch electronics.
