I assumed it had the firmware already on the bootloader from v1

Do you think it has anything to do with bending the pin on the bottom ( like it said to do in the old instructions on the lr3 page)?

I don’t know how, but I think that bugfix marlin firmware somehow came from my computer. I accidentally plugged in my computer when it was just on the usb jumper, and maybe it found that somewhere in my storage on this computer from like 2 years ago when I was bricking my anycubic printers.

Both the screen and the control board have firmware. There was a custom screen firmware version once that had all the 3d printer buttons removed but the next version of the controller firmware broke it and since it’s only a visual thing it’s not worth the considerable work to redo every time there’s a controller firmware update. So yes there’s 3d printer stuff, just ignore that.

ok thanks.

So I only have to plug in the grey wires or the black tft ones? The directions showed both plugged in.

I have them all plugged in now. I think it said it gives you the ability to either do touchscreen or not.

But ya, the picture without the tft plugged in was probably in between me swapping stuff on or off

I think you are on to something with the 2209s being a weird variety

I gave you the link to the instructions. It is literally as simple as putting the premade files on a memory card and rebooting. Look at my links.

Not true, you need to fake them.

It doesn’t care what it is, both machines move in XY, just flash my firmware and go.

Ya i remembered you had the links incase on the board control page. Thanks ryan. I’m doing all of it now

That’s not true- underlying everything on the SKR is Marlin firmware, and it’s heritage is as a 3D printer controller. Same with the TFT firmware. We accept those nuances because it’s near impossible to change it without upstream help, and BTT isn’t that interested in taking the V1 changes upstream. That’s likely because the vast, vast majority of their users are running 3D printers with them.

You need to get the Windows drivers loaded for the SKR. I’ll find you a link when I’m in a spot with better coverage. Later today.

The firmware is set up for TMC2209s. You will get firmware errors if you don’t have TMCs in there. It might still move, but the motion won’t be right and Marlin will complain if it tries to move at all.

You aren’t dumb at all. Perhaps have some things to learn about the machine- but that’s just necessary learning.

No.

The SD card is used when flashing firmware, but the firmware “Lives” embedded on the board. Otherwise, SD cards are used to supply files for your jobs.

V1 SKR boards will have been pre-flashed with appropriate firmware. You pick at purchase time whether it is for a lowrider or a repeat printer.

If you bent it in such a way that it can short to something- maybe. I trim the pin off on mine. Give us pictures of the stepper drivers with the pin bent.

That lets you switch back and forth between Marlin mode (Grey cables) and TFT mode (Black cable.)

It’s useful to be able to switch back and forth.

I swear i had different ones where i bent the pins in!??

Found some in the box

So i somehow mixed up and installed the twotrees 2209s and the bent pin btt2209s are in the box somewhere

One step at a time, we’ll get this thing up and running.

ok I found the rest of the BTT TMC2209 v1.2s and reinstalled them.

Next Im going to flash a sd card with Ryans software on it…

Then ill try powering up again.Simple

For the SKR, the SD card has to be formatted with FAT32.
Looking forward to seeing you get the flash on it.

When it works, the file will get renamed after the flash. That’ll be a great sign.

Similar for the TFT.

So I went to the v1 link Ryan sent.

I didn’t see the link the instructions say, but I followed the link and at the top of the page it says New Marlin 2.1.1

So am I flashing this?

I mean, do I find the board under the config folder for the skr pro and download that? It wouldn’t be preconfigured then would it?

Even still, should I still flash this?

Which one should i flash?

The instructions say a different file name.

found it…
