What would you want to see in a new lowrider build?

Narcissist or model protection???

Instead of drawing a crown, new builds are supposed to cut a tight-tolerance aluminum plate to glue in there. That’s how you know you’re done.

Inset logo’s, no glue 0.001mm interference fit!

No problem… let me just grab my torch and heat the outer part… oh wait

I’m getting excited and want to share it…

Well at least you make me feel better about doing the same with mine!

Took this one for ya today. Twin screws out of our smallest extruder… you can judge the size by the propane bottle and the guy standing next to them.

BTW, love the teaser pics… lol

OMG, How in the heck to they even design the screws on the extruder, and the machining must be insane as well.

Seeing that makes me realize how much engineering I have not even approached. I am not interested in going back to college but I might need to poke around for some more learn’n.

I’ll keep you in my thoughts. I’m dreading the teardown. I can’t bring myself to do it until I have all parts in hand to get the LR3 cutting. Sooooo close!

So it is so much better that everyone is tearing down their lr2???

Well, the LR3 is a replacement/upgrade/iteration of the Lowriders. Although the LR3 is a very different machine, it uses many of the LR2 parts. This is great news for the LR2 owner who wants to upgrade. You don’t have to start from scratch.

Maybe. We don’t know entirely yet, but I need the wheels, several of the pulleys and the motors at the least in order to build this, not to mention the table.

I think I am going to cut a couple of strut plates on the LR2. Ive been procrastinating tearing it down, I was going to start 4 hours ago…

For procrastination, I printed another job to check the printer for jamming.

So far, so good.

Like I said before I hate having uncapped metal parts sticking out.

None of us have room for both. Many of us are using the same parts for the new one (especially the electronics).

Hmmm… where’d that enhance guy go … ?!?

Looks like the top of left side y carriage with the linear rails hidden behind the board and the end of the triangular x rails at the back left. Square at back right is probably the y axis servo cutout and the electrical cable is going through the cable tray holder and might be for the endstops ??

Can’t wait to see some more pics. :+1:t2:

Oops! meant for that to be in the private thread… Well, it’s an out of focus picture with a bunch of non-standard parts in it.

I’m just wondering if the first job for my LR2 will be making parts for the LR3… :open_mouth:
