TMC driver not detected - expected 0x0x21 got 0x0x0

Hi all, I got the RC1 board, finally got around to play with it. I asked Ryan for a USB-C version but that seems to have arrived dead. No life at all.

I had a devboard nearby and installed it with the right firmware and I loaded the config file from the Github as a starting point to get to tinkering.

After a boot this is in my $ss log for all my axis.

Seems like something is wrong… Did I miss something in the config file? Where there changes made between RC1 and the current final version?

Just checking, you have power on the 12V input too, right? Not just the ESP32?

Asking because that happened to me when I was over-eager and didn’t hook up the 12V supply.

I flashed and tested it before it left. If you pull the esp32 off the jackpot and use your USB cable, what happens?

Thanks for the suggestion but yes, 24v and status is retrieved via the webui.

Yes tried that too, dead as a doornail. Tbh, quickly swapped to another board. Not an issue, put it aside and check it out later.

The other board works and tried $limits and it seems to be receiving inputs, but it isn’t communicating with the drivers somehow.

Do you have any else plugged in? Sure the power polarity is correct, I have messed that up myself.

Picture?

Esp facing the right direction?

This is all very new so lots of basic questions I’m sorry.

I just know I have tested nearly every board that has left with inputs and outputs and at least one stepper. A couple left without drivers plugged in are the only ones not fully tested with steppers but I test the web and I/O.

You guys are going to love this…

The ESP board I inserted was not inserted correctly, only the row of pins on the bottom were inserted… (with the drivers up), reinserted and now all is well… Got lucky with the one endstop I tested with $limits…

Seems you can fix stupid afterall…

No worries!?!

Any idea about the USB-c version I shipped?

stole another cable from jr. and now the usb-c version is also up and running.

Oh I need to add that to the docs. It does seem that there are a ton of charge only USB-C cables…that is so annoying.
