Status on Lowrider 4

According to a quick Google search,

ABS is considered a medium-to-high strength filament, as it will sooner bend than break and has a higher impact, heat, and chemical resistance than PLA . PETG is also considered a medium-to-high strength filament.

Given that PETG is recommended, I’d guess that ABS could work. But if Ryan chimes in, listen to him and ignore me.

The big pain in the backside with ABS is getting dimensionally accurate prints.
If you can manage to get the prints correctly scaled so that the cooled part is the right size and shape then ABS will work great for your tool mounts.

If not, you’ll hate it. If that happens, go PETG or PET-GF or other materials as we’ve discussed here.

Clearly, all the other LR4 builders in your area are snapping up all the straight pieces.

Unless Ryan says otherwise, blue PETG it is. Having to waste ABS by printing at different scales to get it right is a waste. I didn’t think about shrinkage. I figured ABS is very tolerant to high temps so it would have been fine.

it is just the tool mount, there should not be enough shrinkage to affect that part!

Fixed, thank you.

Hello All,

Quick Q,

So, I’m soldering up my limit switches and just want to confirm that they get connected on the outer lugs, running NC, correct?

Thanks!

That is correct for V1 firmware including Jackpot and SKR boards.

It’s adding time, but keeping on with the multi color prints.

I think that’s just the lightning. Not sure though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bambu p1s i think. It’s the makerspace printer. It has the 4 color ams, which is the only reason that logo is getting done  100-150 fillament changes for it alone. If this was my ender3…

Im in 0 hurry fortunately, rearranging my shop and building a dust collector, finishing my sons jeep is keeping me from rushing the upgrade.

:zap: :zap: :zap:
Was that a deliberate typo? made me laugh either way

Man. We have helped a few dozen people who bought 1" EMT by mistake. I am certain there will be people reading our careful explanations and get it wrong the other way now.

Does it make sens to put a calibration section in the learn section of the docs and just link there if someone is having problems?

That may be true. But a lot of people set their expected price by the first number they see. If the total is 8% higher on a few hundred dollars, they may suddenly feel like there has been a bait and switch. It may not be telling you that 8% is too much more. Just that 8% added on at the end is making people sick.

I wonder if you added 8% everywhere and then said US sales tax was included if you would get more or less sales. Sort of like free shipping.

LOL - that’s true. Ryan probably shouldn’t take marketing advice from us.

But seriously, I was typing a note about waiting until after the election, giving the Fed’s new rate a chance, and probably seeing more sales in 2025, when I looked at the store and…

You can add a Jackpot to a set of printed parts for $12.00??? I mean - this deal is so good I almost ordered a set just to I could say I got a $12 Jackpot! Crazy good deal! Wow.

OK - I didn’t read it carefully enough and I didn’t want this to remain in the world to mislead people. $12 for the enclosure box is still a great deal for the box, but it does not include the Jackpot. Apologies for any inconvenience.

$12 is for a 3D printed enclosure box sized to fit a JackPot CnC board. The Jackpot is not included for $12. I misread at first glance too, maybe rewording will help :man_shrugging:

Jackpot controller boards are available for $2 but you have to bring, and solder your own components :slightly_smiling_face:
