Status on Lowrider 4

4ft X would also allow for cutting full 4x8 sheets with some extra work using indexing holes if you ever plan on doing that.

Mine is almost built, I will show it soon. I am hoping it runs this weekend.

I have it on a 2x4 table. I am at work now, but I believe my emt was 42 long. I almost, and still may, shorten it and put it the other way. I want a bigger table, but right now I built to what I have.

I can show you mine soon.

That flashforge printer is $285 right now at Amazon.

I’m thinking of getting one. I see you did the klipper mod etc, but how would you rate it bone stock?

My adimlab took literally 5-6 weeks printing the Lr3 parts non-stop. I’d like to try something faster at this point and at that price it’s interesting

Got my upgrade kit today too!!

No problems, printed the beta and RC2 with a 0.6 nozzle and 0.32 layer height.

Fancy sticker, never seen those before!

I bookmarked this post, and will do. I will try tonight, latest tomorrow. I did see an improvement with Calilantern. I went from a 770 to an 876 with my mod. The xz/yz still a little off (for ex 99.92 for #11), but not enough to cause issues I think.

I believe we also have to tame our expectations (me included) with FDM printing. This is not like cnc where we can get it exact every time. Too many variables with 3D printing. I’ve had issues where the same brand/type of filament bought a month apart had different outcomes when printing.

Bone stock is quite good, and the only downsides are:

  • not having Klipper user interface options (Mainsail or Fluidd or Klipperscreen and Guppyscreen) and
  • not having access for skew correction

However, for me, stock tested pretty well regarding dimensional accuracy.

Exactly. Goal is improvement and to be “good enough” — not perfect.

Of the four Klipper user interface options, two are in browser, for a wifi-connected computer or tablet or phone, and two are for the touchscreen.

  • Mainsail — in browser
  • Fluidd — in browser
  • Klipperscreen — for the touchscreen
  • Guppyscreen — for the touchscreen

Of the two for the touchscreen, Klipperscreen is the more full featured, I think, but it’s near the borderline of the available resources, and occasionally I would get a crash. Since I switched to the streamlined and trimmed down Guppyscreen, I have not gotten any more crashes.

EDIT: also, some things that are likely doable in the Guppyscreen interface, can certainly be done from the browser interfaces. Such as when a job pauses due to filament runout sensor being triggered, I can enter console commands “LOAD_FILAMENT” (or “UNLOAD_FILAMENT”) etc, in the browser interface, and either resume with the resume button on the touchscreen, or enter “RESUME” in the console in the browser.

Most of the beta testers printed with 0.6 mm nozzles. Should work fine

With the MPCNC 0,6 was good. I’ll print the first machine with 0.4, but the second one will be made with 0.6, but I ordered it yesterdey, and I can’t wait🤣

@vicious1 I have a question: for 30mm tubes what dimension is to use? 29p5 or 32mm? There’re no 30mm files

Yep. .6mm nozzle. .38mm layer height. 3 top/bottom/walls and cubic infill at whatever % Ryan put in the docs! Worked perfectly for 4 different beta runs!

I still need to put up 30mm files, no one has needed them yet so I still need to make them. Couple hours.

Parts arrived! Thanks Ryan! Now I have wait for some filament to come in so I can start printing. This will be the first time I’ve started up my printer since I moved, I hope nothing got throwed out of whack!

I would definitely start with a Calilantern!!! For sure after moving it.

I found some 35mm steel, so if you want to put those up while you are at it, would be appreciated.

Are you planning to expand or do fullsheets?
