Hahaha, a familiar face. Fancy seeing you here…

So you want to see the backside? This is mid build with the printed case lid not attached.

I got a notice that my order is set to deliver (NJ) tomorrow…Sweet Jesus, you’re fast! I hope the initial orders far exceed your expectations! Perhaps you can relax and celebrate this weekend. We all know it’s much deserved!

The hype is (hopefully) real. :slightly_smiling_face:

My build thread for the LR4 is now public, thanks to Ryan. It is a Beta/RC2 build (second Beta build in the world, only @Jonathjon was faster), so my Z homing/side plates are different, besides that the changes are marginal.

is there any summary of the differences between LR3 and LR4?

@macboy could maybe use it in the freezer.

your community is lucky to have you… With my sense of humour, I would release one model a day till it was all there…

As awesome as that would be. He needs to put the whole LR4 out on printables so we can all go vote for it!!!

I am about to order the rails, anyone who knows will work tubes with these parameters? 31.7mm x 3.2mm (1 1/4" OD x 10swg ) Aluminium Tube or polished curtain rails are better?

These are usually pretty thin (and weak). You may want to check the wall thickness before going that route. I believe that 1" EMT is the recommended material.

Yes. That has been on his mind. More to follow from Ryan.

Should I start my build thread? :fire: :raised_hands: :confetti_ball: :tada: :piñata: :clinking_glasses:

Do not use aluminium, it‘s way too soft and the bearings will leave groves after the first use, the core will be wobbly. Use stainless steel or normal steel. I did use SS for the Primo and LR3 but refrained from it for the LR4 because it was never completely round, whereas „normal“ steel can be bought as DOM (or Präzisionsstahlrohr, as it is called here).

@Tokoloshe is totally correct. Aluminum tubes should be avoided. @igorcutoff I see you are located in UK. Of the three tube diameters supported, 29.5 mm is for US (is the Outside Diameter of 1" EMT, where 1" is Inside Diameter), while 30 mm and 32 mm are intended to support builds outside the USA.

If you can find 30 or 32 mm steel tubes, with a decently thick wall, you will be way better off.

How thick should the wall be? One hint is the above info about the US option: 1" = 25.4 and the outside diameter of 29.5 → So, 29.5 - 25.4 = 4.1 mm → and that’s both side walls combined, so half that is a wall thickness around 2mm. —> 4.1 mm / 2 = 2.05 mm

If you look for heavy duty closet rod, and it must be heavy duty, it may work OK for you. I took my digital calipers into the home improvement store to be able to measure wall thickness of closet rod. Only the options saying “heavy duty” (and costing more) were close enough for use.
