Status on Lowrider 4

If skills are good, yes. I tried making some plates during the beta cycle and found I’m not sufficiently precise.

LR4 gets some of its’ performance improvement from upping the game on the required capabiliteis to fab the parts.

This is part of why you see so much discussion about printer callibrations and materials choices.

Still less than a sheet of plywood here and will likely save the cost of me screwing up a sheet when my homemade ones don’t keep it rigid

Don’t get me wrong, price is great for US, but shipping and taxes (20% + 10$ fee on average) is totally killing the deal

I really think a european stock would greatly help the adoption in EU
Using metric hardware and providing options for EU available tubes has already been a huge step forward for the LR3
I know Ryan has been looking for some solutions (mainly for the jackpot as far as I’ve Seen) and I hope he finds it

Letting other people machine and sell those could be an easy solution but it also brings doubt about reseller legitimacy, price and quality control
All in all it may just bring more bad buzz than real advantages

I think we can sort this out in the forum sections in the meantime though

I think the big issue is there doesn’t seem to be a company like Send Cut Send on that side the of the pond. Ryan can get the plates from them, mark them up, and ship them to me for about the same price I can get a sheet off amazon. I don’t think anyone has been successful in finding that type of solution on that side of the globe

Order(s) placed!! I got so excited, I forgot to add the endmills and had to go back!!

I’ll second that about mentioning the MPCNC in the video. I rewound the video to make sure I heard it correctly. He does say it is the newest Lowrider right after so that helps.

Maybe a variant of Voron’s PrintItForwards model with authorized providers, that’s friendly to Ryan’s license/livelihood could benefit both Ryan and Makers located where international shipping/taxes are $$$.

Send Cut Send’s overall products, services and pricing are impressive to me. Curious what the non US based alternatives out there are? Maybe there’s similar businesses that supports fab and ship to Customer in a way that orders through Ryan’s store are routed (some b2b api request) to that local fab-supplier. Maybe that’d help reduce shipping/taxes for all :man_shrugging:.

Maybe we can find some Europeans that want to buy it? The small boxes should be able to carry more than one set, maybe 3? We can try to find out once the dust has settled. :slightly_smiling_face:

I mean, I could just cut them or stick with the RC2, but I still got a voucher.

PCS?

Philipp Cut Send?

Probably …
I just think you or I would want to make a business out if it with regular restocking like Ryan does
It’s a full time job

We can probably run some small batches and offer them though the forum though
Like a “give something back to the community” sort of thing

For a Jackpot board, the screen options are basically limitless. You can use a smart phone as a touchscreen for it, controlling it via the web user interface, WebUI. You can use an Internet capable tablet. You can use an Internet capable laptop. All of these can connect to it wirelessly. There is also an option for having a directly wired control touchscreen, and that option is the FluidDial pendant. Somewhere around here I have a build thread of making that pendant.

Just tell them it’s aluuuuminum instead of aluminium and you’ll pay US shipping. Much cheaper

Just ordered a full hardware kit! Excited to get working on this thing as a first CNC project!

Awesome, I saw your video where you had one and I was like, “Well that’s new” (Compared to Mach3 and a WinXP machine)

Too long works fine. Too short is problematic. The only downside from lead screws that are 5 mm too long is that there will be 5 mm “more” poking out the top when it is homed upwards to Z Max.

Yeah, i bought the V3 plates from the store, but shipping + import taxes are more than the price of the parts… so this time I’ll made all at home. Maybe I could make couple XZ plates more for eurpean guys… but I don’t want to “stole” Ryan’s job.

Two questions. How deep of a cut can you get with v4 (I think I saw 1.5" somewhere), and is this the makita router recommended?

Cutting depth would be limited by the length of the tool you are cutting with, and yes that is the recommended Makita router.

That Makita is fine :+1:t3:

Awesome thanks. I thought I read somewhere that we shouldn’t go more than 1.5" so that’s cool. Worst case if I need deeper I use cnc to make a template and use pattern bit on router.

Generally the maximum depth is half the Z travel but with a drop table you can get more depth. The performance is not optimal and you might need to go easy for thick pieces.
