Status on Lowrider 4

Just waiting patiently for the printed parts … And time, never enough time

I’m eagerly awaiting the release. I’d be looking at an LR3 to LR4 hardware conversion kit, though I only just started reassembling my LR3 after cutting and painting the strut plates. I had hoped they’d just pop on really, but that’s not quite the case. Oh well, maybe another couple weeks and I’ll have it back up and running. Then to tackle dust collection.

I highly suggest waiting a bit then, at least a week or two. Let us make sure all is good on a wider scale and since you are not going to use it right away it takes some launch day stress off me. I appreciate the excitement though.

I don’t have those order yet.

I feel ya on the lack of time part. Always in short supply.

So while we are all excited, I gotsa ask. Are there going to be cut Y plates? Or is Y assembly now 100% printed. It seemed printed in all the videos. But could have been the top secret shenanigans.

Not a panic. More something I’d throw in an order with the XZ plates, but given the shipping, I kind of wait for a full cart. (Then kick myself when something cool comes up right after I order.)

I would like the files to print parts. It is going to be a month or so before I will have all my projects scheduled for my V2 done. Small shop and I have to remodel the table. No rush.

I’m very keen on DXFs and STLs. Also super keen to know the table size relative to cut area - or at least what it is relative to LR3 - holding off on a table build that will inevitably carry an LR4

Release and XZ Plates for LR4

I can’t wait to get the DXFs and STLs.

My first 3D printer, which I ordered to print the parts, arrived yesterday and is up and running.

Next weekend I plan to visit my parents and cut some aluminium on my old CNC, would be great if I could cut some XZ plates too.

I have been watching your projects for years. Initially I was never that interested as it could not quite compete with or outperform my lead screw based CNC in terms of rigidity and size limitations. But things changed with the release of the Lowrider 3. I was still missing a bit of rigidity, but I loved the concept. With the upcoming Lowrider 4, it seems the time has finally come to jump on board

Everyone in here right now.
I also was blown away by the lowrider. I think I converted four or five non believers to making one.
So hyped right now.

Okay for all of you printing your own parts, they are part of the standard release. I highly highly recommend you can bridge a 10mm gap, do a bridge test, and please, please please please, calibrate your printer for SKEW accuracy XY, XZ, and YZ. Oddly the dimensions are not nearly as important as square squares. Calilantern Calibration Tool – Vector 3D is an amazing tool.
Some printers are crazy tilted. If you have part fitment issues I am going to ask this be done as step one in troubleshooting, so you might as well do it now.

I was asking more about what needs to be ready in the shop the soonest and what sort of quantities.

Doug made us some graphics, what do you think?

I spent a lot of time cleaning the garage to get that picture he fancied up.

Damn, the v3 and the MPCNC(?) in the background really make the picture. You’ve got quite the collection!

Cant say enough good things about using this! I know most people don’t like to pay for things like this. But this one is FOR SURE worth it! I bought it a good while back, and any time he makes an update I get an email with a new download link. It takes a little time, but its WAY better than wasting a bunch of time printing parts that don’t work right.

Also, once you run this and get it set. DONT MOVE YOUR PRINTER! Any time you move it you can move things around so you will need to run it again.

STUNNING, RYAN!!! Not even close to looking like a “DIY” machine…

He asked the brilliant @bitingmidge for artistic help with the side plates. Ryan’s engineering genius and Peter’s eye for a great design really make the LR4 shine.

Looks great. I was planning on upgrading right away, but I think I may…
