Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival 2026 - RMRRF

Ha, ha. I was thinking the same thing. Took too long to make a crappy image on my phone.

This needs my V1 Box. :stuck_out_tongue:

We bring that to the show so they can see it in person.

The best things we show at the show are the community members’ makes.

Amazing inlays. Plywood furniture. Carves of various things like alligators or fruit bowl scenes.

Plus the ever popular ZenXY.

Then showing the interrelationships of the machines. The printer that made the CNC machine that makes parts for the printer.

Tangible items are the best things to show people for sure.

Whoops I posted this in the wrong thread,

Here is the blender 5 file if anyone want to try and make it look better. I need to order these things soon though. Dropbox

Not sure about the other background yet, I think it should have the jackpot on it. If we do a collage, the best pics we have are all super low resolution. A collage is the coolest thing though because it would be everyone’s projects!!!

How big do you need them to be? It’s easy enough to “scale” them to a consistent size - If you want totry a free online upscaler (I haven’t tried it) it should work well enough - I use photoshop and topaz gigapixel, but if you get them all to a consistent size and resolution I’m pretty sure the print guys will do the rest. If you want to send me the images and let me know how big you want them I’m happy to get onto it. The online solution will be quicker if it works for you.

Perfect! Each color variant scans for me

This looks sweet!

Maybe the PCB or the populated board render could be cool too

I like this one best so far. I like that it:

  • Has the machine on it. Anyone that recognizes it, or can infer the purpose, can see it from across the room over heads and make their way to our booth.
  • The colors pop. It looks exciting.
  • The texture on the gray is too “rough”. This texture looks more clean and is more interesting than just black.
  • The texture means anything slightly abnormal will still look clean. More important on a table cloth than a wall panel.

The other thing that would be good is some sort of cnced object. Seeing those peeled pockets in hardwood or alluminum are attractive.

My amateur opinion is that the point is to give a taste of our thesis statement. It’s not even an elevator pitch. It is a tease to help people decide which elevator to get into. Things like Fun, Unique, Curious, Professional are what you’re shooting for.

If you are too professional and descriptive, you could convince people to not stop by, because they aren’t interested in an X Carve.

If you were someone like Prusa (much bigger) the goals would be different. Prusa is trying to increase brand recognition as well as just confirming they are there. They want people who don’t even come by to know they were there. And they want the people who know prusa to know where they are. So they do more of just the name.

The black and gray are instant for me the others take a bit of moving around. I will keep printing in different combos. I was told to bring about 400. If any of you coming want to try some color combos extra are always nice.

Or bring your own, to share.

I could definitely use help here. Maybe we can come up with a collage drop some logos and a jackpot on top. I can look through the gallery today and tomorrow.

If anyone has some picture suggestions to add I would love some help here. I am not sure of the end print resolution, I am assuming pretty low so something that will look interesting if blurry and better if it has detail.

Maybe grayscale so the other stuff pops. I guess it depends on the image colors.

This makes me think a funny CNC project, with some machining detail might tell a story. Accurate machines but they have fun with them?? Like a CNC’d “we don’t do it becuase it was easy, becuase we thought it would be easy” type of thing…obviously that statement is not a good one in this case.

The feeling of the CNC running in the background while reclining in the shop chair eating pizza. I need to make that as my Youtube channel main video. My first commercial. That idea came from the young guy that started Boardnamics…I remeber that post feeling just right.

This is why I never wanted to do all the branding and stuff in the first place. But maybe we can do it just right so it stays fun, and we look good doing it.

100 to 150 DPI is plenty for backdrops.

Which is also why I like that self-deprecating pic of you. It really does tell a story consistent with what I think are your objectives and our actual state of being!

It’s 7:30AM here as I type - you can do the time difference maths, but send me a message or email with an overview of what you are looking for. I can either give you instructions on how to proceed, or just do it if the time allowance is OK

Okay, sent out a file for the printer to look at for the first backdrop. I had to stop messing with it I was starting to not like it.

The render was 1.5gb, it took some work in Inkscape to use it. I had to link the file instead of importing it. After a reboot to clear up my memory, I was able to export a full sized PDF, which turned out to only be 800Mb?

I am sure that will be okay.

Time for the collage. If any of you have a favorite project (using one of the machines in some way) you want to share a higher resolution image of please do. I am guessing the images with higher contrast will be easiest, and pretty clearly separated from the background. I see a bunch in the gallery.
Need some Sandify / zen patterns as well.

Peter I will get with you about this one hopefully tomorrow. I can set up a shared folder, I think that should be easiest?

I don’t know about specific projects, but I’d make an attempt to feature a variety of mounted tools to show the versatility of the machine - plotting, drag knife, needle cutter, the various spindles and routers, diode lasers, plasma cutters.
