New V1 engineering ESP-32 board unresponsive

I bought my jackpot and ESP-32 from Elecrow as I am in the UK, V1 Engineering ESP32

I plugged it into my PC (win11) using 2 different USB cables and after installing drivers from https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/CP210x_Universal_Windows_Driver.zip and following the instructions on this page… Setting up FluidNC

I get a green LED when connected but nothing shows in Device manager, no new hardware sound made by windows. I took the cables and boards home to try with my laptop and the same problem with both cables.

Can anyone suggest things to try?

Thanks in advance…

I had a similar problem, tried on 3 different computers, turned out the usb micro cable I was using was power only. So I then tried with another cable that was data and power. After this the web installer found a device.

Wow. That is a new record.

I usually tie a knot in power only cables. I hate it when I use them on my desk.

I just throw them in the garbage.

I have adapters I use when I travel.
They prevent data jacking.

But I only carry the adapters, never charge only cables.

I give away charge only cables as soon as I find them. They suck.

Im to cheap to throw them away. I will have cornered the market by the time i die :skull_and_crossbones:

Wait until you try and figure out which do video and the type. What a mess of a standard

I 100% agree there is no reason except to save the monie on 3 wires

That’s a great idea but doesn’t that stop the electrons flowing? … … wink
