New MK4 is out!

Well I love Fedex Tracking.

My Mk4S kit is in Grace-Hollogne BE, and is “out for delivery” by 22:00 on Monday 4th November so no more tracking until the plane arrives I guess! Well what could possibly go wrong in the last 16,196km??

The first screenshot shows it “On the way”, not “out for delivery”.
Hopefully FedEx doesn’t to the trnsit loops that Amazon seems to enjoy these days.

USPS tracking has my V1e package pinballing around California, almost like someone has mistaken the country code for Canada as California…

Normally parcels go from CZ to HongKong. This time sending it back to Belgium is exactly the wrong direction, although since the earth is a sphere, one could argue that it could go in any direction and still eventually end up here!

It’s in Dubai today, which means it’s heading back towards us, so that’s comforting.

The HF Nozzles come with a silicone sock and boy does it make a difference…

No adhesion issues, just a great print:

Two part print. You can barely make out where the lid closes:

They are silica boxes for my dryboxes.

That’s with my homebrew 0.6 HF Nozzle config.

Full setup now. With Prusa having added red and purple as 2kg spools I needed two new boxes. Those are simple: the mini spool holder in the box. Make an outlet. Done. No fancy stuff for those.

Enclosure next. Need more money.

Not again… :expressionless: :joy:

Yeah, that’s terrible. Every one of my dryboxes scores higher than that!

The original and the best - three lack tables and a few furniture connectors make a solid, rigid enclosure that you can conceal wiring in - there’s a version for the MMU too - let me know if you want to do a Lack based gadget and I’ll write an essay.

I might even incorporate some CNC stuff into it if you really ask nicely!

On another note - look what the postman brought this morning!

Oh, and Josef sent me an email today. The XL is now less than the price of a small child!

I’ve been away for six months - the average humidity is 78%, today it’s 84%. if I’m not here to recharge the silica gel every month - that’s what happens, even in a sealed box!

The best I can get is around 20% RH, even when the dryer says it’s 10% (because of the elevated temp) - I don’t like drying the filament too often in the heater, I’m concerned it will end up like a car dashboard!

I had a whole thread about this a few years ago - I am still considering building a “dry cupboard” with a small heater and dehumidifier in it, but there’s no information anywhere that I can see about what works. You can of course buy commercial cupboards, for camera gear and the like , but if I could get the mechanicals working I would love to build one.

I informally name that setup the flying spaghetti monster.
Great setup!

Now I can’t stop thinking about a low-volume, low energy, continuously running dehumidifier.

l’d welcome any ideas.

Do you want to start a 2024 thread or go back to this one:

My thoughts are -
Sealed cabinet (could be an old wardrobe?)

  • Vertical partition up one end with fan at the bottom moving air in

  • Small heater set at about 35

  • One of those ridiculously cheap and inefficient dehumidifiers

  • Fan at the top to circulate air

  • Some sort of passive exhaust vent

  • But I have no idea how it will all work.

  • I guess I just have to build it and see.

An Asko heat pump drying cupboard is $7,000, but I can buy a Prusa XL for less,

Yep, we have quite a bit. All of the accessories were made by me - shelves, print hangers and so on. I am contemplating making some custom sheets for the shed with the LR3.

I will suggest again. Just move to Colorado.

Yeah, slight difference. And that’s after a week of dry, sunny days, too.
