You are so last year, you big meanie!!! It’s a hardened nozzle for that cool glow in the dark stuff. Hardened high flow 0.6 nozzle 120€. Let’s make a bet. So no. If they get a profile ready for the 0.6 we can start talking.
The speed does not really appeal to me that much because I don’t mind the little extra time, what I really like are the 70% overhangs, that sounds sick.
They have this on their blog post. It seems weird if they were to talk about this and not have a 0.6 profile, so maybe that is coming too. Especially if the aim is to shoot for speeeeeed.
They are not taking MMU though in the list.

Ivan Miranda appears to be impressed!
I may be entirely wrong here, but I seem to recall a discussion on the Prusa podcast some time ago related to how they launched the XL with 0.6 nozzles all round but most of the complaints re:poor print quality were due to pushing limits with the 0.6 nozzle. They swapped stock nozzles to 0.4 and the complaints suddenly turned to compliments.
General consensus was (as I remember) that with Arachne the speed/quality trade off with a 0.4 nozzle was the reverse of what everyone was expecting. I recall (that Tom) thinking it would make the 0.4 nozzle redundant and he did a number of tests with the 0.6 to prove it could perform as well, but it seems that the opposite is occurring - the best trade off between speed and quality seems to be pushing a 0.4.
This release is clearly pushing quality above all else, reminds me of the old MG slogan “safety fast”.
Look at my prints… The quality is awesome with my custom 0.6mm profile for the MMU. They just have to add that sh… into the configuration… Grr.
but can you do this?
Twitter is currently full of people trying to impress each other. They don’t know I’m watching, but I am a little bit thinking I need this.
They now list the high flow obXidian nozzles… Another 70€. I am not going back to 0.4mm nozzles. The print quality is still insanely good and it’s just sooo much quicker.
I wonder if with non-planar slicing you can print overhangs that exceed 90 degrees. That would be something.
Or maybe that is already done and boring. I don’t follow that closely.
Edit: Ok, nevermind, that was already done years ago.
Trying to print TPU through the MMU now. Wish me luck.
/edit: Works well. No material changes, but the MMU did not complain printing it, nothing got stuck.
There might be a use for a 0.6mm nozzle after all!
Whaat!!
That’s me:
Week 34 starts August 19, 2024 Week 45 (starts November 4, 2024)
Waited for too long…
I just tried to play the “my MMU problem hasn’t been fixed yet and I spent so much time troubleshooting can’t you bump my order up” card. Let’s see if that works.
On the bright side, it looks like I know what I am getting for Christmas!
On a less bright note, the XL ( and maybe the LR4) now have conditions attached.
Conversation while waiting for the flight home this evening;
“Are you sure you want another project before you finish the TV cabinet?”
Since I pushed the doors aside to build the LR2, that’s probably a fair point!
Those five years give or take don’t make a difference now…
That should be well past the statute of limitations by now
Grmpf: “As much as I’d love to, I unfortunately cannot move the order in the queue. As for the time you’ve spent troubleshooting this, we greatly appreciate it and I hope your printer works good enough to make up for it.” Worth a try though.
Of course you need the proper tool to do the cabinet properly.
There. That was easy.
