New MK4 is out!

I did order one, but for the MK4 they are only shipping at the end of August.
I read though that the new firmware also works for the MMU2 and fixes a lot of the problems that it has (and it actually works, there are some forum posts of people who now can use it hassle free and are glad they got the support and a little mad that all it took was new software… :D).

Now wait a cotton-picking minute… The Tropics are the limits at which the sun will pass directly overhead. Therefore… Oh, damn. Curvature… Crap. It made sense when I posted it. Stupid spheres and orbital mechanics, always getting one more little twist into things. (Did you know the only reason they were able to finally get info on gravitational waves was because they were able to get detailed info on Jupiter’s orbit and therefore, a better grip on the barycenter of the solar system, which is outside the surface of the sun?)

I’m so glad I didn’t post an opinion about the sun. So many of you have been wrong at least once.

I’m so glad I’ve waited.

In the last two weeks the lead time has gone down from eight weeks to seven!

I have been aiming for an early November delivery. Maybe three weeks till I push the button!

It’s not the end of August yet!

I haven’t ordered an MK4. But I have a lot more sympathy for this thread. I ordered a Chevy Bolt and it won’t be here until late October.

A nice one! I feel sorry for all you guys waiting for stuff. It sure is an excercise for our restless spirits.

On the topic of the MK4, a few experiences and thoughts so far:

I LOVE the simplicity of changing filaments during mid print. Not that it was impossible before, but now it’s much less of a hassle. I’ve emptied 3-4 spools of filament left overs already, I’m not bothered with running out of a spool any more. (as long as it’s okay with different colors on the print of course)

Speed is insane! I’m afraid that things will fall down all over my workbench. Being able to chose between speed and structure is a nice way to simplify the slicing.

I miss octoprint. Prusa Link is nice. Haven’t looked into connect, but I miss my video feed and being notified on my phone of printer events. I’m afraid that using octoprint with the MK4 will ruin some of the printer functionality. (like the sweet filament change)

Gee thanks @turbinbjorn for rubbing it in… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: (only joking)

I’ve been waiting for that to be officially released to play with. Originally it looked like they added it to 2.6.0, but the enhanced types are only in 2.6.1.

It would be interesting if it lets you easily create any profile cut you want, so you could, for instance, create a lap joint with dovetail or locating pins or something for alignment of the faces.

I haven’t tested the connectors even in the current version yet, but I’ve been wondering how well it does with clearances and how perfect your print has to be to fit after.

Let me be the firstl. " OH SNAP!". lol

Then let me be the first to reply: “Oh, SLAP!”

Now, where’d I leave that Batman image…

Things seem to be settling down in Prusaland, notwithstanding that the entire website is down and has been for quite some time.

Lead time on the kit is now 5-6 weeks so the maths are almost of the kind I can do on the fingers of one hand.

I’ve also noticed that the “it’s not enough!” cries on the internet have been replaced by Mk4’s in the background everywhere just going about their business. Curious, but maybe with tens of thousands of them in the wild now, those noisy, entitled “influencers” are all casting their influence over the next glittery thing?

This seems to be a you-problem. Or they cut the internet cable to Australia? :stuck_out_tongue:

Still loading very slowly - I think it’s because of all the creality spammers - this from my Printables inbox! :astonished:

[Hello, we are also running a wall hook design contest with prizes including Ender-3 V2 3D Printer, badges, and hundreds of cash. If you are interested, come and participate now! Click here: (address modified so no one will) ttps://c.creality.com/xxxxxxx

As a result, we have to postpone the originally planned date of shipping from late August/September by several weeks. We now expect that MMU3 for the MK4 should be ready to ship during October .

Nooooooo…
