MPCNC original model from 2019 firmware

What I’m unsure of is triggering just one, and how to do it.

Physically press the arm on the limit switch until you hear the click, then hold it there while you run M119 again

Oh, sorry. I thought you weren’t sure what flipping state meant.

Just use your finger to press the limit switch arm.

I fially had some time to get this done. Ignore the highlighted section. My switch restraint slipped off.

Here’s the results:

Looks like when you press a switch it goes from TRIGGERED to open. That means either your firmware is defined wrong (NO) - or you limit switches are wired NO instead of the NC we expect.

I thought we had verified the wiring with a DMM, but if we haven’t now is a good time to power off the machine, pull an endstop wire connector at the Rambo, and probe the connector with a DMM.

I expect the switches to be wired NC, so you should see a short until you press the switch and then it goes open.

Your machine is 100% behaving (and reporting) that your endstops are wired opposite from what it expects.

I’m pretty sure I’ve done the switch test a couple times already, so let’s look at the firmware 1st. If I’m reading this correctly, it’s telling me it’s set for NC?

That looks correct to me. Can you post a picture of how your endstops are wired? Wires should be on the outside 2 terminals and nothing on the middle one.

My limit switches are as follows:

Top pin = NC

Centre pin = Common

Bottom pin = NO

So mine is wired to the top and centre pins.

You must have different limit switches than every one of us uses then. Can you post a link to your specific switches?

I don’t have any links. These were purchased in 2019 when I first began this project.

JJ (and I ) want to see photographs of YOUR switches, as wired.

I want to see a DMM on the endstop plug, reading less than one ohm when not pressed, and reading open when pressed.

There’s basically these possibilities left:

  • Endstop is wired wrong
  • Firmware is built differently than what you showed in your screenshot.

That’s pretty much all it can be.

I got tired of playing with switches, and just changed them out to another set. (thankfully I have parts bins) Life is good. Machine now homes correctly. They aren’t stopping like they should, but I noticed the switch arm need adjusting. (just have to bend the arms a bit. Thanks for all the help!

Just to make sure you know, they won’t stop the machine during a jog, only when homing.

Yes, and homing was my main problem. Now I just have to learn the machine, but that’s for another day.
