MP3DP V4 Build

That’s how my aluminum brace is. And I guess I would leave it that way since I don’t want to take off the magnet to drill more holes in the bed. I haven’t had any of the leveling issues since early on so no real reason to change it. I might cut one out of MDF and swap it in once I figure out how to mount these springs.

I noticed some slight ringing on some of the parts I printed last night and this morning. Did some more digging after my last attempt to figure out input shaper failed and came across this…

Got it installed and it all seems to be working. Its running belt shaper calibrations now to see if the belts are properly tensioned. I don’t plan to adjust them I am just curious on this one lol. Next will be actual input shaper. Will post up the graphs as I get them.

Well…

I guess I’ve got more to figure out…

Did you install an accelerometer for input shaper? Or you doing it the old fashioned way?

The EBB36 has an ADXL345 on it. So letting it do all the work. I couldn’t get the fancy pants graph from the old fashion way lol.

Did what I said I wasn’t going to. Messed with the belts just a little bit. They were pretty loose. Running it again now…

Still saying likely a mechanical issue… hmmmmmm… Going to have to think on it and look some stuff over yet again.

Went ahead and ran input shaper…

Recommended EI @125.2 Hz for X and Max acceleration of 29,200
Recommended MZV @ 62 Hz for Y and Max acceleration of 11,300

X axis…

Y axis…

not sure how I missed this, but hurry up and get it running already

LOL The V4 is running, printing parts as I type for the E5+ lol. Finally started motion parts today. Getting all the Orange parts finished before switching to Gray ASA then run all my test over again to dial it in and start on the rest of the parts

What are you printing for the E5+? (Ender 5 plus? or some other printer? )

Zero G Mercury One.1 Kit. Converts the Ender 5 Pro or Plus over to CoreXY. They also have a conversion for the bed called Hydra that changes it over to a 3 mount system similar to the MP3DP but I wont be doing that conversion on the Plus. If it all goes well and makes a big improvement in the printer then I plan to convert my Ender 5 Pro over to it as well, and for that one I will do the Hydra kit since it runs a cantilevered bed that I don’t care for. Originally wanted to do the Ender 5 Pro kit first. But that kit was always out of stock so I went ahead and went for the Plus

Today I replaced the Y carriages, both motor mounts and because I was already in there both rear corner idler mounts with ASA Printed parts. The X beam never would sit straight before, now after replacing those parts I was able to get it to sit flush across the back with zero belt tension. That also made it possible to tension both bets equally and still stay square. Running belt test and then input shaper again to see if the graphs look any better.

Took 4 tries of the belt calibration tool, adjusting them just a touch each time. Finally got to “acceptable Mechanical Health” lol. Not sure if I should tweak just a touch more and try to get into the 90% range on similarity or just leave well enough alone. Guess Ill run a speed test and see if my accelerations are still the same or have improved/worsened and go from there.

Test 1:

Test 2:

Test 3:

Test 4:

Estimated similarity: 87.7%

tweaks it just a touch more to try to get into the 90% range

Estimated similarity: 78.3%
Likely a mechanical issue

And that right there is why I left it alone for now LOL. Just ran an acceleration test, 2 actually. First one at 5000 went great. Bumped it up to 7000 and it start ok then the motors just stop with a high pitch whine before hauling ass back the other way and slamming into shit lol. It wasn’t a normal skipped step. This was different. Like I have a setting wrong on the drivers or something. Going to have to do some more research. If anyone has any ideas I’m all ears!

sounds like we might need another crazy noise video

The last one was a dud so I didn’t bother this time LOL. I’m going to run it again. If it does it Ill post it and see what y’all think.

Something like this… https://zoomtube.com/@azab2c/make/v1e-mp3dp-v4?v=5_24&t=34_07_24&r=1.05 ?

Looks like your XY Steppers are 1.0A, MP3DP_V4/printer.cfg at main · jonathjon/MP3DP_V4 · GitHub. Am doing the same, but think Ilya is/was using 1.2A for his fast benchys/tests.

This was at 6000. It held 6000 before so I’m not sure what’s going on. Bu that also was before the stealthchop change.

Yeah I’m at 1. Steppers are staying much cooler now that its out of that chamber deal. But Im also not worried about their temp anymore since they are on ASA mounts which can handle a lot more temp. What I’m not sure about is stepper driver temp. I took one of the thermistors I had monitoring the “chamber” and stuck it down right between the X & Y stepper driver heat sinks just to see what it would show. This is Chamber Bottom…
