How About a M3DPMower?

My wife doesn’t work well with bees and we use our yard for stuff. Mostly racing RC cars.

We have talked about covering 2/3 of the ‘field’ part of our yard with wild flowers.

“partial to full shade” Does not apply to any part of my North Texas lawn. We’re full sun on all 4 sides with the exception of the skinny sliver of shadow on the North side caused by the house.

Interesting. Mine are in pretty much full sun as well. I am pretty sure Texas is much hotter than it is here in the summer though. I max out below just 110 most summers.

honestly. we’re about the same. We might just have more days of hotter temps.

I think Eastern CA is hotter. But it is a dry heat.

That’s what people say anyway. I say it doesn’t matter because I will be in the pool or air conditioning either way.

I’m late but I love it nearly as much as I love my flame thrower!

For the competition it might pay to use a Prusament spool! (and for extra points you can remove the cardboard centre of the spool and insert a custom width printed version) here’s one I prepared earlier -
Dessicant Spool Replacement Body.stl.zip (380.6 KB)
although I can send you the Onshape link if you wish.

Thank you @bitingmidge ! I was semi serious about entering a Smart Pet Weed Euthanizer in the Printable’s contest. Using a Prusament spool sounds smart, thank you for the model! Will see if I can update and test the design some more later this week… Will share whatever I end up with.

My other idea was a larger litter tray version of cyber dumpster for my cat to crap in. Would use an Arduino/Raspberry to capture and AI automate tweeting pics of :cat2::poop: and :cat2::peach: to people I don’t like. Am trying to use AI for good where possible.

That looks positively diabolical… Love it.

Thank you! “Diabolical” perfectly describes what I would like people to think and feel.

Switched to 2020 for now. Easier to mount things, will try EMT again later. Currently trying to figure out how to wire up and configure critical features like turbo boost button (temporary current and feed-rate spike), think AirWolf rather than KnightRider for ergonomics sake, since still need to hold trigger while engaging Turbo.

Currently using/abusing mostly stock FluidNC. Been trying to avoid… But may end up with custom firmware, I really don’t need gcode for a pet weed euthanizer, but… Who knows, maybe it could help do crop lawn circles.

This is awesome. A bit absurd, but I support this.

So, you’re running gcode to run this? I’m curious what that looks like. If you just need to change feedrates and even stepper amp settings changing based on input, I bet you can do this all with stock firmware with some creative gcode along with some FluidNC commands.

Thanks Jason. Also, thank you for the misc FluidNC musings and experiment topics you’ve been sharing, including the helpful related FluidNC doc links you shared…

My first lazy AI vibe attempt convincingly suggested I could add arbitrary named Macros inline. Nope. Below doesn’t work, but does convey the gist of what I am trying to do…

Currently reading Docs, V1E forum and discord. Looks like I should push logic to saved macro, so trying that, e.g.

Yea, I would try tying the macros that call a gcode file to button input with the standard functionality.

I’m not sure what the intention is for the dwell and cancel jog.

FluidNC config ended up being simple, but took me a long time to figure out…

Yesterday’s iteration #3 was less :poop: than #2, but still :poop:. Partially worked though, and wasn’t too :poop: to completely abandon/shelve. So…

Currently upgrading 60oz to 84oz steppers, full length shaft and other tweaks. Also need to wire up and write Arduino code to qualify for the Smart Pet Gadgets Printables contest, started sharing files/docs, will include details for V1E/Arduino based setups…

Consider liking/commenting the Printables model if you want to see more of this silliness…

This is so incredibly stupid… Love it… It has some kind of @jamiek energy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Did you consider a DC motor instead of a stepper? You could wire it to the battery through the button and skip the microcontroller altogether.

I guess it is a moot point now, since you’ve done all the work. But a heavily geared DC motor should have some significant torque.

You could even 3D print the gearbox and integrate it with the devil heads (Weed pullers)

DC motors would have been cheaper and easier to code for sure. Could’ve printed or bought gears that would be good enough, and yet… I intentionally wanted an excuse to play with steppers…

Getting V1E Jackpot running was way easier than trying to make an Arduino version. Am still not done, but this is how things are looking (my first fritzing diagram)… Suggestions/ridicule appreciated, cheers!

It’s Friday… Curious if anyone’s offended by the term “weed-bagging” as a method and system for effective (?) weed management?
