Garage Shop Mobile Lowrider v3

 oh. I shared a remix of Ryan’s vac mount that has thin layers near the LEDs. But I don’t know if that’s compatible with Doug’s Vac hose parts.

Should be just fine.

I printed yours first. They are not compatible.

Hmm, I’d probably drill holes for LEDs in Doug’s and use gorilla clear tape, or crystal clear silicone to seal the holes to maintain the air flow.

I’d probably avoid shoving any acrylic/hard cutoffs in the hole cutouts incase they worked free and became unintentional nano Ninja stars hurtling across the shop.

Nice visual there @azab2c

Made a nice piece for my sister, who proceeded to take it and show it off at work, and now I have 3 custom orders to fulfill over the next few weeks… I’ll take it!

Going for my first inlay in the morning… Maple into Walnut. Should be fun… or horrible. Either way, it’ll be a learning experience.

Also doing a 0.2-in maple veneer over 0.5-in walnut, kind of like King ColorCore, but with wood instead I guess? Using the maple on top for highlights and V-carving through into the dark base color. It should be… illuminating.

I did all the cutting and gluing today, hopefully should be an easy day of letting the CNC do all the work tomorrow. (yah, shouldn’t have said it…) Then it’s on to just sanding and finish work.

Oh totally forgot, the Kobalt router is on my bench and the last two mounts just finished up on the 3D Printer! Went with dual color for the one and just clear for the other.

Didn’t get any Garage work done this weekend…

I’ve been working on swimming pool repairs and renovations this time around.

Added a heater and the-piped the system to keep things in the correct order. Added some natural gas piping to the outside and cut out some sidewalk to bury the water and gas pipes.

Just need to pick up a new flex gas line and get the electrical wired in and we’re hot, literally.

Next up?! Drain the pool, re-tile and plaster the pool surface. Not looking forward to it, but gotta do what I gotta do…

I did manage to polycrylic my darth vader carves, so I’ll post those pics soon.

I’m in talks with the wife about adding a new garage to the front of our old garage or knocking some trees over and adding a building out back for a 500 sq foot permanent shop space… I may be able to build an actual torsion table and use my cnc every day!

All thoughts and prayers are appreciated, lol.

I just got done listening to the Ryan from V1 Engineering Podcast from OHM. The story is amazing, man! It’s great to hear the stories and intentions behind the product designs.

Thanks, those guys are fun to talk to.

My z-axis touch plate decided to be fully problematic today… Repeated M119 testing kept giving me different answers and was entirely frustrating…. I’m guessing intermittent issues would be a short in the cable or a loose connection to the SKR Pro controller pins, but didn’t have time to dig into it today.

I had to bypass the G38.2 section in the gcode and manually calibrate height on everything. I guess it’s about time to open up the box, insert that new network cable keystone adapter and run the new line out to the plate/magnet to see if that works any better.

UPDATE
The little screw from the alligator clip up and disappeared, but the wire was still clamped in there, causing the intermittent connection. I just took the clip out completely and bolted in a wire pigtail with some blue threadlocker.

Once again working as intended and cutting like a champ.

I’m back from my CnC hiatus… the temperature in Oklahoma has been a bear so I’ve had very little free time that was desirable to spend in a 100+ degree (F) garage. After going back and forth on the decision about two dozen times, I found a used 18,000 btu portable A/C for a great price and did a little custom installation business to make it easy to connect and disconnect from the 3D printed wall flange that goes through my garage wall and then through my outer closet wall to the outside. (Having brick siding makes cutting holes in walls a pain in the butt, so had to find a workaround)

Remind me to not take breaks this long anymore, I was second-guessing all of my setup decisions today because I haven’t touched this thing in months!

But, after the long delay, I’m back up and running with twin rails and adjustable risers for milling thicker materials. I also added some adhesive metal rulers to both rail sections to make it easier to keep things square during setup.

Today I’m working on a new milling bit organizer as I’ve fully outgrown my current one.

Honestly it’s a good test to make sure everything is still running right after the machine sitting for so long. Once I’m satisfied that everything is good to go, it’s on to working with a slab of Pecan wood that I picked up for some commemorative work.

So I got through the test job and noticed my LR Core was wobbling up and down vertically on the gantry when moving around. When I investigated, I found some cracks…

I was able to do some tightening to remove the wobble without making the cracks worse, but is this something I need to reprint a new LR Core for?

Unfortunately, yes.

Either it was a bad print or you drastically overtightened the bolts. You just need them seated, they are not holding anything crazy together.

On the bright side, my 3D printer is sitting idle right now… no time like the present!

Nice dude! Did you design that milling bit organizer? If so, will you be sharing the design for it?

Absolutely! I’ll toss a Fusion 360 file in here as soon as I finish refining a few hole sizes.

Edit: Or maybe I can’t post those here… I’ll work on uploading the design to Thingiverse and posting a link.

To upload here, you would just have to put it in a zip file.
