Fluid Dial (Fluid NC dial pendant by Bart Dring, using M5 Stack's M5 Dial)

No worries, Doug, I appreciate your efforts!

Dreyfus, thank you for taking the time to elaborate. No, nothing is happening in device manager when I plug in the M5. The M5 does come to life, and I did test the cable I’m using, and it does appear to be a data capable cable.

That doesn’t appear to be making much of a difference.
I uninstalled the device, restarted my computer and reinstalled the CP210x drivers.
Now the yellow triangle is gone, and under the Ports heading I see the Silicon Lamds CP210x…COM4.
When I plug in the dial without holding the button on the back, it continues to come to life, when I hold the button and plug it in, nothing happens in the device manager window.

I found it easier to remove the frame and card in the back so I could see the button and feel the click of it being pressed.

I’ll give it a shot and report back.
Thank you!

Still nothing.
Just to make sure my ability to connect to the FluidNC board isn’t messed up, too, I did connect the board to the laptop and initiated the FluidNC web installer. Zero issues with making that happen.
Also noted in that process, that when connecting the FluidNC board, the auidible alert noise was made during connction and disconnect. Concurrently, I noticed the Silicon Labs CP21x icon in the device manager goes from being grayed out when unplugged to being fully visible when plugged in (this would happen when the device manager screen refreshd after each time of plugging in or unplugging the USB cord).
Notably, that doesn’ happen at all when I connect the M5, ever. No noise to announce a connection, no change to the device manager screen, regardless of pushing the button on the back or not.

Have stared the process of trying to reflash the M5, and this is mind numbing and infuriating.
I can’t access the files without registering, so I register, but haven’t received the confirmation email to verify my account.
I’m losing my mind here!:face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

What files are you needing that you had to register for? Where is the registration at?

Maybe I or one of us already have the same files?

I went down a rabbit hole on the M5 website, and came across this guide to re-flashing the device:
I downloaded the M5 Burner files with the application, but when I try to log in, it comes up with an error (even though my credentials work for the forum)

Ah. I realize now that it won’t help me to download the files on your behalf. I thought the login was a gate keeping you from downloading.

Did you try erasing the M5 with Visual Studio and then installing the FluidDial firmware?

No, the whole issue I’m experiencing is not getting the computer to recognize the dial is connected, so I can’t even erase it.
The M5 application that I was trying to gain access to has some sort of port configuration utility, and I thought it might be an avenue to diagnose the problem.

I struggled with mine, (but it was a while ago) and with an S3 Stamp recently. For mine to work I did need to hold the button. I also needed to specifically use a USB 2.0 port and an old USB cable (that I tested for data) on an older PC. (This was a pain because I ended up having to install the whole Visual Studio Code setup on an ancient machine.) But at one point (once it was recognized) I did need to use a web installer to erase it before I could get Visual Studio Code to upload to it. I think I used the WLED installer to perform the erase, then just didn’t do any of the rest of the install.

In my case (since it’s likely to be different than yours) there was a library missing that was necessary for a successful boot. So I needed to figure that out and load the library before building with PlatformIO.

I’m not a developer of any kind, so my troubleshooting was probably horrible and illogical. But I did eventually get the magic combination figured out. Good luck. Hopefully someone has ideas here and helps you breakthrough.

Is it a way to connect m5dial via wifi with jackpot?

For Wi-Fi connection you can use any smart phone, or Wi-Fi connected tablet or computer. The pendant is strictly for having an option to do wired instead of wireless.

If you want a wireless physical controller check this out WebUI Shenanigans

Alredy ordered parts for that.
But also have m5dial and since jacpot and dial are based on esp32, they both have wifi and maybe there is a way to connect them.

Probably, using websockets like LarryG has with theirs, but no one has done it with a m5dial that I know of.

Re. wifi pendant - I think I remember someone mentioning they thought it might be possible. However, I don’t know of anyone who has done that.

From a hardware perspective, it’s absolutely possible but it would require code changes. I’m not sure how significant they would be. Sorry, not volunteering for this one.
