That works but it is harder to do than the resistors. I bet a toothpick will help. Kinda nice having penalized boards for work like this.

Not really, except that 10k/100nF is one of my most commonly used filter values for DC/slow signals. f(-3db) of 160Hz, step response of ~2.5ms.

For RC filters, the time constant is the result of the product, so 1R/1F is the same as 1MR/1uF. 1R/1F is 0.16Hz and 2.3 seconds and you can scale from there. 10K/100nF is the same as 1K/1uF or 1R/1mF which is 160Hz and 2.3ms.

So yeah, it’s not too hard to just eyeball!

So how did the rework push go?
Are you happy with how a dab of dark nail polish dims out the blinding LED?
Are you now going to get a good yield on this production batch?

I’m up to buy a vew V1 branded ESP32s, should any show up on the shop. Price them with a decent margin, call them V1 premium edition ESP32s or something…

Yeah, That works. Right on top and it shines more sideways and you don’t even notice the dot on top. I am reworking the schematic now.

Okay looking at the LED’s. The specs are close between the jackpot and the ESP32 The jackpot LED’s run at 0.85-0.95mA…the ESP is 10mA :sunglasses:

To my defense I think I calculated it at 3.3V not 5V, at 3.3V it would be 1.5mA…still double but way closer. Bonehead mistake.

Moving it down to 22.1k (to decrease unique part count by 1) that gets it to .95mA which should be a very similar intensity. I could try to solder a resistor on there…if my hand is steady enough.

As they currently are, the picture does not portray the brightness accurately… Looking at it is too much.


With dried black nail polish, a little brighter than perfect.

I have a bunch more coming. The best price I can get them for is about $8.50-$9 to my door. Same price as the Espressif (smaller memory not broke out USB UARTs on the bottom) with shipping. I think I will just get them for the Jackpots.

No one really wants these outside of the Jackpots right? I guess I can list a few and see what happens.

I would just come up with a price that’s worth it to you, and list them.

You never know who might order them…

If I was going to order a genuine board for something, I would probably order it here before I went to Mouser or Digikey if the pricing is similar.
