Custom LR3 Strut Contest

I was able to come up with one more design. It has webbing type spans, but they are configured to accentuate and cooperate with the location of the X-belt.

Strut 4-A

First what it would look like with the X belt, and the LR3 core parked at left or right:

Same again, but this time visualizing the given color scheme, either by use of paints or a mix of paint and LED:

Then the strut plate by itself:

And finally the SVG file for making it:
v4.0-A

I love this one. A little red acrylic behind the logo with some LEDs and this one is a winner in my book.

Am I doing something wrong? When I opened your other SVGs in Estlcam I selected mm and they came in perfect. this one comes in HUGE Should I be opening in a different scale?

You call a 3000mm V1 logo big??? pfft…

It’s a spoil board design :slight_smile:

I am on a new computer and a new version of the vector illustration software. I must have saved it in “inches” instead of “millimeters” — let me try again.

Also, if you import it like this:

It will come in to whatever size you want it to be in width, so if the proportions are correct for your width, that should work

@Jonathjon:

Yes, as @Michael_Melancon said, that works, and the correct width to import at is 1450.00mm.

Please make sure no commas (not 1,450) as ESTLcam does not play nice with commas.

I tried exporting again, and my new setup is doing something strange with the size / scale.

Here are screen shots of it working right when adjusting on import into ESTLcam:

ERASE the wrong value shown here:

And add in 1450.00mm:

Comes in at correct size like this:

@Jonathjon

Hey, I found what I was doing wrong on the export! The new export dialog box was offering a ratio, and I thought it was set to 1:1.00 — but it was 1:100 (so it was making the result 100x too large)!

I have edited the post above with the revised SVG file!

Thanks @DougJoseph and @Michael_Melancon. I did end up resizing it down to 1450mm just a different way.

My reason for asking is I was messing with the Fusion that @vicious1 posted. For some reason its measured at 1449.20mm. And I have noticed in the past them not quite being the same as what you label the SVG. Just wanted to be sure I was going to end up cutting it the right size LOL. Thanks a Ton!!!

Whoa!!! I learned something new today! Thank you that is pretty cool to know.

I like this one.

@Jonathjon

I just noticed the thickness of the “V1” letters is thinner than that of the LR3 name, so I am about to upload a tweaked one in which that is adjusted. EDIT: just finished with that slight revision. See below

Well the day is here. I want to truly thank everyone! There were a lot of great entries. Yesterday afternoon when I got home my wife and I were sitting here looking at all of them. And I couldn’t pick out just one. I was actually planning on combining 2 of them together lol. But then @DougJoseph came in at the last min with an amazing entry!!!

Here’s the Winner!!! And as soon as I get my latest order from @vicious1 I’ll start cutting it out. I could have sworn I had more 1/16" endmills but of course they are MIA lol. Also some props to @vicious1 entry. Going to use it as the back strut. So he got a tip on the last order I made for that!

@DougJoseph send me an email to jonathjon@aol.com and I will forward you the emails for the gift cards!

@DougJoseph not sure if it’s just me, but I’ve tried opening the SVG in multiple applications and all of them seem to have some type of artifacts in it, like a simplification of shapes or something.

I got similar results with both A and B versions in Inkscape, Fusion, EstlCAM, etc

I noticed the same thing with the B version. I was able to get A to work last night but that was when it was huge and I scaled it down. I haven’t tried that one again since he fixed that. When I opened B in Estlcam today I couldn’t get helical Drill to pick up on the screw holes. Was going to just use A then overlay B for the words lol. Might be a simple fix he can make and then upload again.

I will re-output it — even using my old computer if I have to!

I’m trying like hell to find motivation lol. Someone was nice enough to bring COVID to the boat wile I was at work. Spent a week in my room feeling like i got ran over by a Mack truck. Feeling a lot better now but still lingering congestion and low energy. Just got back from picking up some 1/4" MDF that I blame @Fabien for LOL. About to go cut a strip off of this 4’ x 5’ sheet of aluminum so I can fit it on the 3’x5’ LR3. Then its time to see what happens. I think I’m going to cut your back piece out first. Give @DougJoseph a chance to look at his latest svg and see if that can be straightened out or not. I’ve also got a custom lower strut to hold the LED strips along the bottom nicer. Totally un needed but since when has that ever stopped any of us LOL.

@vicious1 check your messages when you get a chance. Need to see if I can add something to my order. Thank you sir!

Working on an OpenSCAD version of it.

Mostly just to learn OpenSCAD a bit more, but if you approve I will share the result so people with different strut widths can make them.
