I am not really sure how much faster wood can go ( the MDF drag race was limited by movement and size in the end).. Metal is where this will accel and any stack up slop is going to show before the power in those steppers I think. The V1 machines surely have a larger slop stackup. That little movement is the critical part in a CNC. Fully loaded drag races in a straight line don’t tell us too much.

This is extremely interesting to me.

Congrats, Philipp! That is an awesome beast. What is that spindle? I am impressed it doesn’t bog down at that feed rate. Did I start your love of closed-loop steppers?

I just used ryans 1/16 at 1250. Made ornaments in short time!

Lr4 is very nice! Just wish I had room for a 4x8 build!

Thanks, and yeah, it’s all your fault. :scream: You started me down a slippery slope. May I send you the bill for the steppers and drivers at least?

The spindle is an AMB Fräsmotor 1400 FME-P DI 230V (für ER16 Präzisions-Spannzangen), so it’s got 1400W, it’s a long way from slowing down. :stuck_out_tongue: I would have taken the ER20 version, but I bought it used (but new, he never put it on his CNC and bought a Mechatron spindle).

Went 7.5mm DOC on this one with a 1-flute at 1800mm/min and 24k RPM. Edges are great, finishing pass with the 5.2° endmill turned out perfect, no wandering of it.

That’s more good work. Love to see these come to completion.

Thank you for sharing. Way back when, I really considered PrintNC instead of the LR3. But in the end this forum kept me here. But I’ve remained PrintNC curious, primarily because it does seem to be a capable machine with more rigidity. I’ll enjoy watching you share projects you make with it.

But I currently still have enough “Oops!” and crashes that 4x the speed would just be a faster way to spend money. (Might be fun to watch as the metal twists…)

I don’t feel like poking into the culture-war-conflict, but printNC-curious is certainly an alignment I can identify with :squinting_face_with_tongue:

The biggest problem is that it’s fully constrained. So if you crash, something will break.

Well, I dare say that this turned out pretty well.

If we’ve learned anything from the past, it more likely says something like
