I wanna see it cut so fast I put on my 20T pulleys to try and keep up.

Not going to happen. The LR can move faster, the ballscrews only let it go up to 10k I think. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

You and I both have cut with the LR4 at 3600mm/m so lets see just how far above that you can get

If I set the chipload to 2% Estlcam suggests 5760mm/min. So I guess I’ll try that tomorrow…
Going to wire the alarm first though… :joy:

Pansy

I didn’t wire the alarm, I was antsy.

But kids, now we are talking:

I can cut three skateboard mounts in the time of one. :tada:

Is it maintaining accuracy at that higher speed?

Oooooh, yes. There is no stepdown to be seen either and the finishing pass takes off exactly 0.6mm. I stopped and measured. :joy:

Seems like you need to go faster then

I need some help here, guys. What’s the word, synonym of word ‘traitor’, which can be used as a nice, and gentle way to put to someone friendly and someone you really like and do not want to insult?

Anyone?

PS. Congrats Toko, speed look like you did x4 during editing.

I’m not sure there’s a direct synonym, but maybe something like “jumped ship” (meaning changed brands or changed loyalties)

We don’t mind folks using or building other machines here.

Lmao! you guys!

I love it, A new race. I want to see how close we can get. I need a two flute 1/4" endmill but I want to test these speeds for sure.

This has my head spinning. I am confident there is lots of speed left of the table, otherwise those steppers and encoders are being wasted.

I think the encoders will play a bigger role than just in speed. Think of hitting a knot or hard spot in the wood, or a mess up hitting a screw or something. I would much rather have one little mess up that I can fix possibly in a job than ruin a much larger piece because I didn’t realize it skipped a step and now all my screw holes are off or something like that.

The PrintNC gets mostly used for aluminium, but I am not sure that the steppers reach their full potential there either.

I needed to move (like, 10cm) the machine today (145kgs) and didn’t have anywhere else to push than the gantry. I pushed the whole machine with the steppers powered by pushing in the middle of the gantry with my whole body weight, full force. Didn’t lose a single step.
The cutting forces with the cut above are calculated at 1.5kgs roughly… If you now consider an 80kg person pushing a 145kg CNC around whithout them losing steps… there must be some room for improvement. Maybe DOC. I could try 11.5 for the lulz to do 21mm oak in two passes…

If you can cut oak at the same speed you did earlier at a 11.5mm DOC then you are doing something for sure. That’s just nuts lol.

I need to try at least because otherwise you guys won’t shut up. :stuck_out_tongue:
