Thanks, @dart1280 ! You’re right—the spindle is now available again in Europe! I just checked, and it’s back in the Vevor shop and AliExpress, though only separately without the VFD converter. Mike, you just made my day!
@Benm678, which country are you trying to ship the spindle to? Curious if it’s a regional issue with Vevor’s delivery options. It looks like they have stock available in their warehouse in the Czech Republic.
Australia, my mistake, I assumed Aliexpress = ex China, but apparently not.
Items that are available to me on Vevor Aliexpress are shipped from Australia too
@Benm678, if there’s any way I can help with shipping, feel free to reach out. Happy to assist if I can!
Local Vevor store is claiming 1-2 weeks for restock of the 1.5, so I’m hoping that is true and the price is similar to the Aliexpress price anyway. Thanks for the offer though.
yess i got the water cool but it’s super silent
So is the air cooled!
I also came across a 1.5kW water-cooled spindle from Vevor with a net weight of 3.8kg. Might be another option to consider!
Edit: This water-cooled spindle now seems to be unavailable.
I have the 1.5kw air-cooled version and the “no-load” noise is actually very low, it’s nothing like a palm router
But you must keep in mind that most of the noise will come from the cutting bit hitting the wood, and this will cover any difference between air-cooled or water-cooled spindle…
On a side note, the water-cooled spindle might be a good fit if you regularly cut at low rpm, because the airflow directly depends on the motor speed on the air-cooled version
This is probably a much more accurate choice element than “noise”
Note for any Australians following along, the 1.5kw air cooled spindle is back in stock in the Australian Vevor store. I just ordered one

I made a thread a few months ago when I tried a spindle. TLDR I returned my 1.5kw but that’s just one guys opinion (mine)
https://forum.v1e.com/t/considering-a-spindle-instead-of-a-trim-router/
Yeah - I followed that thread for a while. I’m definitely not sold on the spindle. I would like the additional control, but worry about the additional weight, etc. But it sounds like the LR4 would be even more capable of using a spindle than ever before.
I spend some time hunting around on Ali and found a g-penny combo that looks reasonable. It’s just a lot of money before I’ve even built the thing. I do wish the Vevor one would come back to the states though.
Thanks for posting your experience. Definitely showed me another angle to the decision.
For now I just realized I should definitely convert to my Kobalt with my ER11s. I hadn’t printed my tool mount yet. (Picked it up for $35 off the clearance rack in the back of the store.). I’m guessing the guys in construction that need a palm router are using ones with batteries now. Probably not a lot of demand for the corded one we use for DIY CNC.
Can I interest you in an AMB 1400?
I don’t remember off hand. But was your spindle a 110v or 220v? If 110v I am wondering if that made a difference over what I see with my 220v spindles. I run the vevor one on my small LR3 and I have a different one I got off eBay on my full sheet. The full sheet one runs a Huanyang inverter. To me this is a better inverter than the vevor one. It has RS485 and can display rpm on the panel instead of just Hz. But the vevor spindle is for sure better than the no name brand one that came with it lol
This is the same vfd in a 110v version I didn’t look long enough to find the 220v version.
I have a video of making a cut on the LR4 beta with the vevor spindle. I could still hear the stepper motors over the sound of the spindle cutting!
Well the mic on my phone didn’t pick it up very well. So I guess you’ll just have to take my word for it lol
110v.
Also a lot of my cuts are pockets with a 1" bowl bit. I am willing to bet that takes some power
Here is the one and only time I have ever stalled my spindle. Was with an 1 1/4” surfacing bit that needed the cutters flipped bad and was cutting deeper than the bit is height wise.
Those are super cool! I haven’t seen them in the US much. A quick search only found 1 vendor, and it doesn’t seem to have a standardized collet.
But the size, torque, and electronics make those an interesting option. Just a little pricey.
Hi! I have a 2.2kw spindle on my LR3 and am planning my upgrade to LR4. I am surprised to hear the 80mm spindle doesn’t fit on the core! I am rethinking my options and trying to find a 2.2kw water cooled spindle with a diameter of 65mm, but I don’t see any.
I haven’t used a router at all, but often use routers in my woodworking and wasn’t interested in having that awful brushed motor drone during cuts and annoying the neighbors. I find the spindle to be much quieter and more powerful.
I haven’t noticed any problems in my cutting accuracy due to the spindle being farther off the rails than a smaller one. I used a remix on printables to initially attach my spindle, and I haven’t had any troubles.
I have also been very happy with the power on the spindle. I have used a 2’’ flattening bit on it and ran it through hardwood and had no issues. My biggest issues was tramming it so I end up just going for more passes on a 1/2’’ bit now.
Getting speed control working was a little tricky, but I added a little PWM to voltage module which lets me set the spindle speed as well as on/off from software.
This is the spindle I have on the LR3: Amazon.com
If anyone finds a 65mm diameter water cooled 2.2kw spindle or a clever 80mm remix for mounting please let me know!
