Z Load...

Just got the DW660 mounted today, used a cheap dremel before, now the weight of the Dewalt takes the Z axis down…
Which are the tension bolts to adjust?

This is what I did. I swapped out the existing lead screw for this one that has a finer pitch. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018KFH536/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

T8 8mm dia, 2mm pitch, 2mm lead, 300mm long.

All you should need is to reset the Steps/mm in the OS, Marlin etc. I’ve tested it using a 2.2kW spindle that weighs 4.4kg with no problems. I’m still debating whether to use this spindle or my 500W one that works quite well even with the 12000RPM limit. So far that is…

Thanks for your answer!
It sound odd to me that Ryan’s design needs hardware modification…Nobody got a “tweak” or an adjustment on the gantry bolts to solve this issue? (when steppers on, no pb by the way!)

It happens, just stop your cutting session away from your workpiece. With the stepper energized it shouldn’t drop at all. If it is, you might need to up the voltage on that stepper driver.
