Z axis home failure

Hi,

i encountered a very strange problem today. When I selected home Z axis the carriage went up a mm or so then stopped. After fiddling around I found if i turned the spindle power supply off at the mains everything worked fine. I have just fitted a Machifit 500 watt 100 volt motor, controller seems pretty basic, is it possible it puts out enough electrical noise to screw up homing?

Yes. I would try to make sure the wires for the spindle and the wires for the Endstop are not bundled together. This is common for the cheapie spindles.
