Wireless CYD pendant

Hi all

Somebody mentioned on the forum that latest version of fluiddial supports wifi.
I’ve made a wireless battery powered CYD pendant in @vicious1‘s case and some spare lithium battery. My CYD support battery charging but unfortunately does not support shutdown. the button on the side should shut it down but it doesnt so it is always running. I’ll add an inline switch to be able to turn it off

Latest version of FluidNC is needed and you also need to build the latest master of fluiddial from github which is easy using vscode and platformio

like to a wiki with documentation: FluidDial Wireless | Wiki.js

then just connect a lithium battery to the battery pins of the CYD. or as a poor man solution plug into a powerbank and stick tape it to the back

Tried homing a jogging and it works very good. Set the jog step to 0.1mm then it becomes very controllable and responsive

I was planning to build a wired one but did not have the RJ11 cable and connectors ordered on time.

wireless one is even better no wires to mess with or static to potentially damage jackpot

my jackpot has a static IP assigned on the router but should work with mDNS as well

Time to remix the case to have a place for 18650 and a toggle switch to turn it off

No way!!!

True. I heard this at RMRRF and have been meaning to try this with one of my CYDs.
You’ve verified it.

Sorry! You are our resident pendant king! I want to see what you do with it!!!

I’ve been using it for a week or so. It’s working fine so far.

I have a regular FluidDial but I don’t use it. I never built a CYD version. There are like 3 different firmwares out there for the CYD version. There’s one for the PiBot CYD version which was developed by Luc, the WebUI developer. There’s another new one out there too which might also support wireless.

I’m a bit biased towards my favorite. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Fair enough!

Is that cyd really only 20 bucks?

The CYD displays are quite cheap.

I tried it yesterday and it set my cyd Into a reboot loop not sure I trust it yet. I reloaded v1.1.2 back on and everything working again. I may try it later after it’s been out a while.
