What would you want to see in a new lowrider build?

Hopefully it is a short wait!

How short ? The suspense is killing me!

At this point I am waiting on at least 4 shipments and 2 are samples so if those are good I will only have a few then…wait for more to ship…or wait for more samples. The amount of money I have out right now has never been higher. All in transit or about to ship. Brutal, sorry it is taking so long.

No worries, I’m sure it will all work out .

Makes me feel good about putting my LR2 on hold. I will likely be one of the vanguards building an LR3 and putting some cash back in your pocket.

I hope it is all ok i am waiting with with eager anticipation. It is fun to be on the edge for us without to much monie invested just relax and we will come through for you too.

Floor to ceiling basement cabinets will be the first full project i run. I first need to clean the basement :weary: so i am not sure i want it to be done to soon just make it good

Will the LR3 be using different/new control boards or what is currently being used for the LR2 ?

Thanks much.

I, as well as many of the beta testers are using the same electronics that was running my LR2. There are zero differences in configuration as far as the electronics go for an LR3 as compared to an LR2 – with endstops. If you were planning on iusing an LR2 configuration without endstops, I think that is still possible, but the LR3 is much better (IMO) with the endstops.

Short answer, no necessary changes in electronics.

Now, I’m using different control electronics than most, but I don’t see a reason why I couldn’t run this on an SKR Pro, or even a RAMPS stack if I wanted to. The Duet Wifi that I’m using does allow me to do some pretty cool things though. Not necessarily useful things, but cool.

As someone on the Beta team, I’m quite happy with my machine as it stands. I have some tweaking to do, and I have some finalization to do on the machine itself. If you look on Printables, I have a remix of Ryan’s tool holder up which I needed for my specific situation. It’s not a huge variation, I just needed a bit more room.

Hopefully the stuff already left China. Shanghi is on lockdown again, and this is all the ships waiting to dock.

Can you share what the ā€œpretty cool thingsā€ you can do with the duet are?

Not without showing a video of the machine… Which is in the build PLOG that will be visible after the machine is released.

It’s so pretty, yet horrible all at the same time.

Yeah, I have a pallet of bearings that may or may not make it out of a different port (Ningbo) because of the closure. That pallet’s shipping was probably a bit more than double what it was last time.

Sell me a sample. :money_mouth_face::smiling_imp: Hahahaha ok no, then it wouldn’t be a sample

Now its the time, now i have a new shed with enough space to accomodate another full sheet machine, and now my family and neighbors wont cry and be mad with the noise. (Full dual layer noise insulation all over the place, you cant hear nothing from outside)

Hmmm… looks like I can still acquire pretty much all the LR2 parts from the V1 store with the exception of the mini rambo and the lead screws. Amazon has an SKR v1.4 with the TMC2209 stepper drivers for $72 and the lead screws for $12 and change…

Given the ambiguity/lack of availability of the parts required for the LR3 currently and the potential to reuse some of the LR2 parts on the LR3 maybe it’s still wise to just build an LR2 still as discussed in this thread, above (sorry can’t link to it, maybe it’s a new user limit)

That is a lot of shipping traffic backed up.

I’m not sure I would recognize it on a normal day either though. The ships are obviously not drawn to scale.

Is that double the normal traffic? 20x? 200x? 2000x?

Obviously, it looks pretty clogged when all of them are black and red.

The flat parts are not available. I would just wait, trust me. At that point you can decide if the LR2 or 3 is what you want.

Well dangit. I had all but decided to just proceed with the LR2 after hearing that you’re suffering supply chain delays (I just posted a multi-question post in the ā€œadviceā€ section of the LR forum as well).
do you have any sense at all about when a LR3 kit could be made available? I’d like to have a functioning cnc router by the end of May. Given my timeline, would you still recommend I wait for the v3? I definitely would prefer that option! I realize you would be purely guessing if you can answer so just want to put that out there.
