I did a search to see if there was a thread about this, but couldn’t locate one. So if you see this and know there is, please feel free to let me know…
I currently have a BiQU B1 SE plus printer and it started to corrupt the instructions for printing. Through troubleshooting, Bigstreetech offered steps to reset my firmware, which I followed to the letter. Now I don’t have a display and I’m pretty sure all the firmware is updated to ask the right files. Still nothing. But this isn’t about finding help on this …
I’m wondering if I replace that board completely with a Jackpot board - what are your thoughts? Think it could do well? I’m currently using a Jackpot on my LR3 (upgrade starts when my printer is back to working)
I figure, I’ve got the board on hand, I could borrow it from my LR3, get it to work and then order a new one to replace.
Anyone using a Jackpot for a 3D printer controller?
Jackpot runs FluidNC, wich is an evolution from GRBL-esp32. So if you know a GRBL fork that allows you to print, should be doable, but i think you will need help from the fluidnc staff/discord not from here. A skr might serve you better
I can agree to that point. Since posting this, I am looking at the SKRs available, so now I’ve got a completely different issue, stick with SKR or upgrade to a Manta or Octopus, so many animals no zookeeper to keep it inline.
Warranty expired. But I have troubleshooting instructions, I’ve been following them but to no avail, as I repeated at the beginning of this post. I’ve got one more run at this before I throw in the towel and switch out the board.
I wouldn’t even try it with the jackpot and that is saying a lot.
Klipper or Marlin would be a lot easier than fluid. But the jackpot doesn’t have thermistor inputs or heater outputs. It just isn’t worth it when a small skr board can be had for pretty cheap.
I like JackPot for my CNC, and not yet invented things that use Steppers. But would use something else for a more sunny yellow brick road 3D printing build experience…
, worth the setup struggle, and cost for compatible controller + Pi. Not many great sales this time of year, maybe some for Presidents day?
After a frustrating upgrade to Klipper, I was frustrated with myself for sticking with Marlin for so long. Game changer being able to make quick config changes, macros and such. All without having to burn your time recompiling and burning firmware.
The jackpot doesnt have heater or fan circuits built in and so you’d have to do something heroic for the extruder. I’ll third the klipper suggestion and point you to a btt mini E3v3 or an skr turbo 1.4, both of which i have current configs for in klipper if that would be helpful. Depending on how many motor controls you need the mini may or may not be adequate.
I liked klipper so much from 3d printing vs compiling marlin that I converted my cncs to run it as well and it works great.
I’ll submit a “Close topic” on using the Jackpot here. Thank you all for your dialog on the matter. I find it would be more difficult to shoe-horn the Jackpot in a place where the SKR does it fine.
Redirect into a firmware to revive the SKR2 and TFT35 here…
I’m just befuddled after following Bigtreetech’s support instructions and reinstalled the firmware to now have a white screen on my TFT35 display.
A guy from Fiver that I found, said to try, with a clean card, to format the TFT35 and then SKR2 again, in that order and only having the firmware for each separately.
I’ll give it a go. I’ll have two separate cards to use to ensure no cross pollination of files.
