Hello @BFUNKSJIGS! Is the 1001.gcode file actually saved as 1001.gcode.txt, but windows file explorer isn’t showing file extension?
Curious about something in the screenshot you shared earlier… I wouldn’t expect .gcode to be recognized by Windows as a text document unless you explicitly configured it to.
I could see how you could end up here if File Explorer is not displaying “File name extensions”
@azab2c
You know I’m not sure bud, I basically exported the code and clicked to have it show the file and fusion/windows used note pad to open the file.
That could
Be? I didn’t and the .txt but that’s not to say windows didn’t do it automatically maybe.
Where can I locate that check box about the extensions ?
@azab2c so I went back to the usb stick where originally saved the file. Right clicked on it and went to properties and shows type of file is .txt, that fall in line with what your thinking??
What’s the best way to have it saved to where the controller will read it? When I put save as I didn’t have any other options in that word pad/note pad
@azab2c well that was quick to figure out but that is def what happened. I went to the usb and clicked view to show the file extensions and yes, it shows 1001.gcode.txt
I tried renaming it carve.gcode and it automatically inputs the .txt when it saves.
How can I prevent that ???
@azab2c I tried renaming it and save as. After it saved it automatically added .txt at the end. Not sure how to work around that. As Im renaming it and saving it in the word pad therefore, its wanting to save it as a text doc.
@azab2c so I made if carve.gcode again without the txt and selected save as > mended to all files and then it saved it on desk top without a file designation
Fusion let’s you set which folder .gcode files are saved to. You could save to the USB folder directly.
If you already created the .gcode file, you can copy/move it from your desktop onto the USB drive. There should be an icon for Explorer on the Windows Task Bar. You can also launch Windows Explorer using the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + e.
@azab2c Launch it as e’explorer? Maybe try saving it directly to the usb from fusion and see what that does. Lol I didn’t give the txt much thought cause at work with our fanuc controllers they recognize about any of them unless their corrupt files.
Looks like you figured this out already, but just incase, and maybe to help the next guy/girl/person/automaton…
Within Notepad, can select File → Save As, within the File Dialog popup, change “Save as Type” dropdown list to “All Files”. Doing this will let you save whatever file name you want without .txt being appended by notepad.
Within Notepad’s File Dialog popup you can select the USB drive directly, to avoid having to copy it later.
@azab2c lol we havent figured it out yet, however hoping thatll work as intended. Going to try to kick the file out from fusion to the usb. Yes, that was the plan with reviving the thread that maybe i can find some success with this. Set the next one up with less head banging later on lol.
Ill keep ya posted. Thanks aaron
Well with a saturated post with a lot of me rambling and such. We’ve made it over that sort of this hurdle!
In short it was exactly what you mentioned!
I saved the file with out a dedicated program (such as .txt) and I did reformat the sad card to default FAT32 > added a sub folder inside the as card > gcode.
Then drug the file and dropped it in there.
BOOM! It was read and the controller picked it up!!!
May have to look at some properties and figure out the touching of Z probe and such and compare to the properties of Flyfisher604 fusion file.
With that being said thanks to all and I promise. It’s appreciated and I’m sure this won’t be my last questions lol!
Lol @jeffeb3 well kind of haha … man I had no idea it was hiding that extension. Haha
Next problem I posted in a thread. I was anxious to run the code see what it would do and it sure if it knocked one of my end stops out or it’s referencing the position from the code.
After homing it says err: too far on the bottom of display hope i can get that narrowed down
