Trouble getting PCB BOM populating

I retroactively came across those sensors, but haven’t gotten a chance to mess with them yet. I think @matei is actually using those for his build as they seem to have the same pinout. I need to look more into the datasheet, though, to see if they would actually be much better.

Will upload those right now.

Oh yes! Thank you for the feedback. I agree the mount won’t offer stability, however will offer cooling for the spindle to dissipate through aluminum. I had an issue a few years back where a 3D printed bracket became too warm and started to slip - so my anxieties are catching up :flushed:
I had considered moving linear rails out, however the mounting screws seemed to fit well in the gaps for spindle clamp and away from the clamp bolts… I’ll print and test out soon!!

alas, just the PMW3389… .I don’t know where the 3395 falls, although maybe bigger number = better ??

I have now updated files on thangs! I am also curious if it would benefit on an angle brace for z axis?

Ahhh yes, my b. I have no idea the differences hahah. I need to go check out those datasheets when I have some time

I don’t think that would hurt! Worth testing I’d say

Hi @camchaney I’ve noticed that there is C11 missing from the PnP_PMW3360-breakout_02 v31_front file - and also on the updated version. Can you please let me know location? This seems like an unnecessary component and maybe not needed?
I’ve also noticed that the encoder ‘S1’ EC11 in Teensy board is not listed in components or PnP file. Is it possible to add to the PCB files?

Thank you

Hey Myles, C11 is DNP. It’s a placeholder capacitor in case we needed to add a decoupling capacitor to the sensor’s SPI communication.

The encoder is manually assembled at the moment, so I didn’t include it in the pick and place file.

Oh I see! Thanks for your response @camchaney

Hi @camchaney - Whilst populating the Teensy board, I can’t see C18, C19, C20, C21, C23, C24, C25, C26, C27 on the PnP file - Have you got an updated PnP file with these locations?

Halloween is coming… I found a tombstone on the boards that came in the mail from Cam today!
Not a big deal to fix, but just posting as a heads up until the footprints are fixed.

I had to look that term up.

I can see it now. C8 above that 8 pin chip.

You make this Picture with your Cellphone or something special Microscope for the PC ?

Oh nooo!! Thanks for the heads up sheesh. Fixed the footprints on the sensor boards but not the main PCB :pensive:. Gotta check the rest of the boards for that

Those are all DNP as well.

I have an amscope stereoscope, the picture is my cellphone through the eyepiece

Ok well glad to say none of the other boards in stock have any tombstoned components. Will definitely be modifying the footprint for future orders, though

C22 also, right?
like described in this pullrequest?

so caps which not be soldered are

on teensy board “C18, C19, C20, C21, C22, C23, C24, C25, C26, C27”

and on the sensorboard C11

for the next version of PCB it would be a dream if the smallest smd where 0603 .. this tiny 0402 are very unhandy

greetings smuk3d

i can not post links .. github /camchaney/handheld-cnc/pull/25/

Correct

Ahhah that could probably be done. I didn’t think people would want to hand solder SMD components

I have a pull request pending that changes the BOM to set those caps to 0pf and tags them as DNS

(because, trust me, if you do stuff them it’s bad)

Would you be okay with me offering a few of the extras to other Aussie makers at cost price, if anyone needs one?

Did you have any of these left? I’d be keen if so
