Trouble getting PCB BOM populating

Hello! amazing project and can’t wait to build mine!
I’m trying to order PCBs with the provided files and the BOM format/components used don’t seem to play nice with either PCBWay or JLCPCB, I’m happy to play around finding the alternate components from the schematics but I thought I’d ask if anyone has a project already setup I can clone.

Where are you located that ordering from elecrrow isn’t an option?

One-off production runs from another board house are unlikely to be more affordable than that.

Edit: I see this is on the Compass section, not the Jackpot /V1 section. You’ll need better help than I just gave ; I’m not sure how to advise you with the Compass.

I had a look at Elecrow anyway to see if the BOM would play nice there, significantly more expensive than JLC to the UK at least. Appreciate the reply anyhoo

Heyyo, stoked to hear you’re working on getting a PCB made! Tbh the PCB populating is pretty annoying. I made the PCB in Fusion (in hindsight I would have never used Fusion PCB design, but I came from Eagle so alas), so a lot of the components don’t translate well with the online PCB manufacturers. There’s a lot of manual part selection that needs to take place.

I’d be happy to hop on a call and help you populate the board if you’d like. I’m also planning on releasing the PCB and an electronics-only kit on my shop soon if that interests you more. Lmk!

amazing! thanks for replying, I don’t mind a bit of casual project admin and I’m pretty much there now, I’ll share the results with friendly part names shortly. one question for you, C18-C27 are they supposed to be excluded?

Shoot! I also just realized I haven’t uploaded the most recent PCB files. Hopefully you haven’t ordered yet. Give me a sec while I update those

Okk just pushed all of the current PCB changes–you’re good to go now. Also I’ve attached the parts lists for my JLCPCB order, so you can just match all of those parts. Make sure to pay attention to part orientation as well! Not all of the components populate in the correct orientation

Yup!

no haven’t ordered yet, in the middle of designing a pcb for myself for another project so may as well do them all at once so it’ll be a couple of days  cheers for the update!

That worked a treat! wondering if it’s worth me ordering 10 of them, have you had much interest in the UK? I’d be happy to send them out at cost + postage

I haven’t really gotten explicit interest for boards in the UK, but it usually doesn’t hurt to get a couple extra boards. Up to you!

Were you able to get the boards ordered on JLC? im getting errors this error after adding BOM

I think there’s an issue with JLC, My existing pre-order is fine but I’m getting the same error as you importing the exact same files I used to build the order.

Hmmm I’ve never gotten that error before. Is that still popping up?

Picklez i would be interested in a pcb if you are ordering more

Just keep trying JLC is acting weird, that comes up every time at first.

Seems to work if you just click x on the prompt and keep trying a few times. Also JLC support said the change “name” to “designator” in the BOM. Seems to be working now. Thanks. Also, were you considering adding the headers as a component, probably wouldn’t cost much at add it to the assembly

sure thing, I have to order 5 anyway, Even I would struggle to let the magic smoke out of 5 of them!

Whats the ETA on that and cost for PCBs only?

Those should be up in the next couple days. It will likely be around $40 or so for main board and sensor boards. I’ll get a better estimate soon and will update when that’s ready

Yes! That is on the to-do list for this weekend. I tested wave soldering for the first time with an order a couple weeks ago—I just need to update the PCB so that I’m using header components instead of the Teensy and stepper drivers.
