Mine came with the hardware package I got from V1.
Your power supply came with the hardware package? Mine too but it has a barrel connect on the end. There is no barrel connector on the board.
See this thread. In general, you do cut the plug and wire to the jackpot.
Ok. I think I know now. Do we need the heat sinks and also I wanted to add the case fan. Does that go on the 24V input power too? Any threads on that by chance? Thank you!
I’m not quite sure how the power connection works on the Jackpot 3. I have a Jackpot 1 which is a little different.
Also, I’d recommend creating your own build thread. We’re happy to help you out with any questions.
I answered the other (new thread). The recomended way for all Jackpot boards is to power the fan from the VMOT power and not use an output on the board.
should the power pins on a jackpot 3 be on all the time? I hooked up a 24v fan to it with no joy. hit the terminals with a multimeter and it was not putting any voltage out.
Are you talking about the row of 4 that are GPIO pins? If so no, those are controlled by gcode. Best bet is to hook your fan straight to the power supply input to the jackpot. That way any time it is on the fan is on. Any time the board is powered the drivers are also powered so the fan is a good idea.
You have the gcode in case I want to be cool?
No I don’t. It will all depend on which pin you hook it too. I don’t ever use them so I am not sure which one goes to which pin.
Mad scientist mode engage!
Sort of. The GPIO outputs on Jackpot V1 and V3 are low side switched. The high side for the VMOT ones is a straight copper run to VMOT power +. The low side is switched off/on by FluidNC.
Those aren’t really the place to wire a fan. Best option is to pick off incoming VMOT power such that if the jackpot is on, the fan is on.
almost done. so now that I have the plates and everything on this guy.. when I hit the power the Z goes down like a fat kid on a see-saw. what do you guys do for this?
Use it to know when I need to lube my lead screws. As long as its dropping everything is good.
In all seriousness you can just jog Z down lower to the bottom so its not falling crazy like. Some people have made 3d printed blocks that you can put in to hold it up as well.
