Test file

So, I’m new, but I finally got my machine running. First cut in foam was fabulous. Second attempt in wood was not.

So I created a file with a bunch of boxes thinking I could set each one to move at different speeds and / or take different amounts of material so that I could see what will work best for me. However, I don’t see in estlcam where I can set steps or speed for individual objects. Am I missing something or do I need to create a separate file and tool for every variable I’m testing?

Not sure what version of Estlcam you’re working with but the version I’m running I need to specify a new tool for each cut I want to alter the speeds and DOC on. It can be the same 1/8" bit but the speed parameters all get changed.

As Kelly suggested, all you need is semi-duplicate tools. New tools have the same properties as the last tool on the list. To get the tool I want to duplicate to the bottom of the list I prepend a z to the tool name, sort the list and add a new tool. Estlcam won’t add tool changes if you use the same tool name with something in parenthesis added to the end, e.g. str 4 (1), str 4 (2), etc.

Tip of the day right there - I didn’t know that! Good to know.
