I already tried tracing bitmap but due to being a svg already it does nothing. Any thoughts or tips would be helpful. I’m also seeing if the guy will make it more compatible with cutting but it was pretty cheap so not sure he will do that.
When I have been in a similar pinch, I have exported the image as bitmap (PNG, JPG or such) and then imported it and traced bitmap. Has worked suprisingly well. But your image seems very complex, perhaps you would have to go over things a bit more manually (editing nodes and such) and maybe using trace center line function (I think that’s a plugin).
Yea trace bitmap dudnt get the detail like I wanted so that’s why I sent it out. I tried trace but map on his jpg and that still didnt work. I’ll look at the trace center.
He sent me another svg today but dudnt have time to open it before work. He may have fixed it. Still hoping to figure out a way I can do it easier then adjusting all nodes and creating unions If possible.
Getting good traces without having to post process is quite the challenge. Not too bad when it is just black and white and no gradients. Use fewer scans and edge detection. Keep tweeking the parameters.
In the end, I have just gotten faster at making my own designs.
The new version of Inkscape has a built in centerline trace, I thought. I haven’t installed it yet because I am lazy and I don’t want to break my install now with lots of different extensions.
That makes sense. I figured it would take work but was hoping for a quick fix. The guy was able to clean it up which will save me a bunch of time I’m going to break it down further and get better details where I want them
