Your example order costs me $101.25 + $85.85 = $187.10 to ship.
I think that is pretty close.
Hmm, I get that it gets complicated based on location and carrier.
I can ship you a LARGEFRB size box (12x13x6, 10lbs) via UPS ground saver for $11.26. USPS / the v1e store says Large US Shipping for LR4 printed parts is $21.85.
I’m in Southern CA so maybe I am an anomaly being so close.
When I ship my 18x7x7, 3lb box for Etsy it is always cheaper using UPS. I only do US.
I’ve never had a problem with your shopping, just sharing a specific example.
Edit: But now you have to pay for boxes
yes it is. That also does not include detailed tracking so that increases “where is my box emails” Once you get one state over that price drastically increase. Having to repack bulk orders into another box also increases time and complexity of an order. And the cost of the box, time ordering boxes, and space storing boxes. Flat rate are free and delivered on demand.
For US customers we have also have 8 zones, only someone within my zone are less expensive not to ship flat rate. USPS Zone Map | Pirate Ship
And I think that’s fair. Some lose most win. Totally reasonable for a small business.
The price of checking every single order and needing to repack them is not worth a couple customers saving $5. I would literally have to increase shipping overhead to compensate. I check periodically to see if there is less expensive shipping and to date there is not.
Sorry, I wasn’t clear enough earlier. By 1220 mm, I meant the workspace width, so the rail length is actually 1388 mm. Thanks anyway—I figured out how to calculate it. The vector calculator suggests using 8 braces by default for this length.
To be vary honest, I make very few sale in my zone because there is an 8% state tax built in. I get very few “local” sales. Enough to where the IRS has called me thinking I was cheating based on my other sales. I had to prove How little I sold locally.
That also tells me I can not increase my prices 8% because I would get a lot less sales.
I don’t know if that is the same conclusion I would draw, but interesting. I am numb to tax now and didn’t even notice.
You try and go out to eat in CA lately? There are 3 or 4 different taxes on the bottom of the check.
Oh, okay. I thought it was one large box.
For you, lets not scare everyone away.
Who said something? Not me… Edited it.
Im guessing based on your knowledge you have seen this or something similar. I use pirateship. But I do one off orders only really. Nothing bulk, always custom packing, and not that many orders. But its pretty cheap at least for me.
Edit: it would help if I could type.
Now I think everyone sees why I fought just making things a few mm bigger here or there and kept stressing that it NEEDS to fit in the box I have. Well that box is very full and we missed the mark on the smaller box by a lot. The YZ plates and core fit the height exactly when stacked so that the core is in one of the linear rail pockets. If that core or plates where any bigger, I could not ship internationally without charging considerably more.
The LR3 parts shipping was 85.85, not 101.25, to germany. In the US it went from $15 to $22
Shopify shipping on my level is usually a few pennies less expensive than pirate ship. I do use it on occasion but regular Shopify is master and a tiny bit less expensive.
Glad you got it sorted! Sounds good!
For US shipping the red is a bit less than I currently charge, The orange is basically the same if you factor in the not-free box bost and extra time to weigh and edit the order, everythign else would cost more than flat rate.
Might make some sense if I was in the middle of the US, that zone would be much larger.
So we are going to need you to move to Kansas
The other way to look at that is $250+$101 is less than the cost of a bare-bones printer and the filament to print the parts. Not including tuning it to get quality enough parts out of it.
And overall, getting everything from me and shipping is far, far, far less than any other full sheet machine available.
I know, didn’t want to say it’s overpriced. 350 plus 20% taxes though. Still cheaper than then printer. Good thing I had a reason to buy a printer when you released the Primo.
