Spindle height

I’m having an issue getting any sort of clearance on the z on my primo running a 65mm spindle. Maybe the mount im using isn’t the right one or I’ve screwed something else up

These are after I took out the 2.5” legs and put in 5” legs. Before that I couldn’t even get a 3/4” piece in the machine and still have room for the bit to stick out enough to cut it. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated!!

Merry Christmas!!

The DW660 mount has the lower part reaching up instead of down, so the end of the collet is about the same Z height as the ends of the tubes.

And the Makita mount is oriented the same way:

When the collet hangs down below the ends of the tubes, that Z space is basically wasted because the Z axis has to be held that much higher, but it can’t cut that high.

This is an older picture from Burly but shows the same principle.

The Primo is shaped differently so the DW660 mount is not as extreme.

Ok so i need to flip the bottom mount over. When i went to put it on that just seemed like they were supposed to be farther apart for rigidity but i can defiantly see where that would make a big difference in z height. Thank you!!!

That seems like it will be a lot better. Now I need to lower my legs back down to 2.5” and see what that does for me. Thanks for the help!!
