Shaft on stepper motors to short?

Hi,

Upgrading from burly to primo.

When i try to align the pulley on the stepper motor the grub screw only hits less then half of its diameter since shaft is to short. This leads to either misaligned pulley or the grub screw misses the shaft. Anyone else seen this and have a solution?

Can you measure the shaft length and post here please?

Thanks for helping out. The shaft was 19.7mm, measured as on picture.

Also attached a picture of the problem.

My shafts were also a little too short, but I think it was only 1mm. The one Ryan sells have got 23mm? Too lazy to check, but it is quite a difference to yours.

My shaft was actually just perfectly fine. I still had some left over, after placing that jig.

Thanks for the replys. My shafts seems a bit short then. I’m thinking of using a part of a 5mm drill bit and shape it like the shaft to give som extra support when tightening the grub screw since it tends to slip over the edge. (and use alot of loctite)

Could you flip the pulley around? So the screw is closer to the motor

Its not possible to align if flipped

If you tighten it snugly and use some thread locker it might hold just fine on the end of the shaft. I had the same issue on one of my builds.

Yes i actually ended up doing that.

Thanks

My shafts were just long enough to have the grub screw positioned away from the motor housing. I originally put them on that way tried the reverse also (grub screw near the motor). The Primo truck has a side facing dip and I was able to insert the hex wrench there to tighten the pulleys so, in my case, I can run them either way. FWIW, I am still running 6mm GT2 belts so that may have an impact as well.
