Router with ER11 collet for $60

Carbide3D is selling their Makita clone ER11 collet router for $60. Original price was $150. I’m guessing they are clearance and won’t be in their shop once their stock is gone.

Yes they are not stocking anymore. Was too expensive for the diy people. I got 2 for my lr4s but when they die (eventually) i have already 2 er11 800w spindles waiting in line

I have 2 friends running them and have one here on standby for when the Kobalt bites the dust. Price was too good to pass up.

Price is so good I’m tempted to order one even with the horrendous shipping cost to the UK since it looks like a 1/8" collet for my makita is nearly as much (!!!) before shipping… also from the US.

At the moment I’m using the factory 1/4" collet with a reducing sleeve but I know that’s suboptimal. The ER11 ecosystem would be much nicer - and, ultimately, cheaper…

I’d have pulled the trigger already if it wouldn’t mean needing to use a step down transformer to run the router :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep. I bought one. I think shipping was included as well.

They are 110V. You need to buy a transformator as well then. :stuck_out_tongue:

Indeed. Presumably it wouldn’t like the 110V CTE we use on building sites here, I have one of those transformers already  I guess the 50Hz might be more of a problem given it’s a motor

Fine I bought one. I like that is is black to match my machine.

Wonder if anyone else will have bad runout

Am still disappointed the Kobalt 1.25hp Trim Router ER11 with LEDs didn’t keep selling. Seemed like a neat product for great value, I have 3 left after gifting one. I understand some needed running in, but was hoping such initial batch issues would be overcome. Alternatively, was hoping the designer/manufacturer would find an alternative brand/seller. Are the designers lurking here, @vicious1 ?

I bought one also… just in case MPR&P needs "mor’ powa’ "…

Thanks for the heads-up, Robert!

Yea, I have 2 Kobalts and this Carbide. And I have my eye on this:

That’s neat looking. That is one thing I do miss about the spindle is gcode speed control. But the spindles just hang too low in the LR4 and cause way too much deflection.

Yea, I’d really like a spindle with a VFD and get a RapidChange ATC setup but I can’t even begin to justify that. Also, I really don’t want to deal with running wires to a VFD. If this can just connect directly to the Jackpot in the beam, that would be convenient. I think $169 is a reasonable price for that functionality.

This seems a little disturbing…

Yea, I saw that too but I suspect that’s being cautious. I would be surprised if a realistic lifespan was less than a normal quality trim router. I couldn’t find a lifespan specified on any other trim routers so we don’t really have anything to compare it to. I’m willing to take the risk but I wouldn’t use it heavily anyway.

I didn’t notice that. But hopefully it was a typo

Did they announced the pricing?

169 USD / 229 CAD

Does anyone know the power output of these vs the Makita? Are they the same? (These being the Carbide ER11’s of course…)
