Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival 2026 - RMRRF

First notable awe crap with the core one L.

I threw a plate of four temp strut plates on it, and watched the printer complete the first two plates first layer which looked good as usual. I didn’t do my customary wait for the full first layer before diverting attention.

When I got back to check:

Snot ball and looks like the first two parts first layers were the only successful part of the print.

I’d already pulled off the hot snotball when I thought to take a picture.

For the close observer, I don’t think I can blame this on Prusa. Note the white residue. Look carefully at the snotball remnants and you’ll see this filament appears to be the notorious “Chinese white crap surrounded by colored PLA”

I think I’m done ever buying inland filaments.

I was able to mostly clear the snotball and even get the silicone sock back on. I’ll need to re-print the cooling shroud.

Running the job again to watch more carefully.

Didn’t clean the satin build plate, had just cleaned it off following the Prusa instructions two prints prior.

Mostly mad at myself for not waiting for a full first layer. Also livid with inland.

Don’t buy inland crap is my takeaway.

Weird, I never had issues with inland. Looks like you need to clean your build plate though. They use Polymaker for the filament oem.

Getting on a plane later today!!! Going to run down to microcenter in the morning, shame I don’t get into CO until it’s almost closed tonight.

That plate was spotless before the crap filament did whatever it did to it. The build plate had been cleaned two prints prior.

Awesome! Safe travels today.

Looks like 'yall are going to get a Colorado experience. Sunny and nice today, snow in Loveland on Friday, overnight freeze and then back to nice for the weekend

aaaaand flight got canceled.

what!? no way

aaaaand canceled my road trip to RMRRF… :poop:

@barry99705, did they give you a new flight or details?

Bummed I probably won’t get to hang out at RMRRF this year. Weather’s not looking fun to drive from WA, and, my Mum recently agreed to visit from UK and do a NE coast road trip after my kid’s graduation. Not sure if/when I’ll have that opportunity again… Still hopeful about visiting OpenSauce or similar event this year, will see…

Noooo!!!

Noooo!!!

Yes please, safe travels.

That is RMRRF weather. I remember the YTers who had never seen snow excited and terrified the first time.

Okay, new flight gets in at midnight tonight.

Is it this weekend? I will be frequenting this topic if so!!

Yes, Saturday and Sunday. We’ll be setting up tomorrow so should have some pictures of that. It’ll start with us unloading in what is forecast to be a cool and light snow morning.

Ryan changed his mind, we absolutely need you to bring your 2’ usable LR4. Start heading toward CO.

I’m late to this show, but given the challenges we are facing, I wanted to throw this out there. Maybe something will help.

I know that Jackpot is the latest greatest for the LR4, but, if “push comes to shove", can bring my LR4, powered by the SKR 1.3. It’s 42”, so close to the target. Might have to tweak a couple of things like the dust collection but I can recover afterwards.

Second, if someone’s can provide a dxf for the strut plate that you need and tell me the material (probably not acrylic, as I have no experience with that), I should be able to cut it. My work space is 42” x 72”.

I think we have some black table covers. Probably 6’ long, if that’s a problem. I also have adjustable saw horses.

As for other fabrications, the LR4 should be fully functional through the weekend. The Primo will go offline tomorrow about noon, but that could be adjusted if we need to. It will come to the show and runs on the Jackpot with FluidTouch. I’m trying to get a few minutes to print a pen to fit the Kobalt holder.

Having said all that, as usual, I’ve got plenty to do getting ready, but if I can help, some one just needs to let me know. Everything has some amount of flexibility.

I’ll see everyone sometime tomorrow PM.

Soon.

You made it! (I’m assuming you brought the snow with you…)

gathering up my things and heading over there in a bit.

Nope, no snow from my place.

Getting worse. Going to have to speak with the management about this.
