Rocky Mountain RepRap Festival 2024

Well I am officially a platinum sponsor of RMRRF 2024!

Had a great time at RMRRF 2023. Took my son and we are going to look at building a death racer for the 2024 show. (So sad I missed the sponsor ship on that last year) The 2023 show was what did the final push into building my Lowrider.

I donā€™t see why a donation setup wouldnā€™t work. Probably get more than expected. I thought the 2023 show was packed, you could hardly walk the aisles to see stuff.

Sorry, no idea what that means. I donā€™t really see anything on their site. What does that do for you?

Well it means two things, the show is happening for sure, and I get my logo in some cool places.

Also means there is a 99% chance I will be going.

It would be amazing to get you back! How far away are you from Loveland?

Oh I wish!! In EU And AUS thereā€™s a nominal (50-200 in the currency of the day) one off fee for relocation - it pays a car tow back to the destination - first cut and I havenā€™t shopped around - in the US we pay that PER DAY!!

Loving the thought of the Amtrak, just need to get our heads around what else we might want to do and see (and what sort of budget we need to find). Will need to chat some more I think.

Holy cow I live like a hour from it. Ugh April is busy at work. I need to see if boss man will make an exception. Are you all going to do a get together there or before/after? I need to try to make this. (Maybe leave my wallet at home)

A lot of us ended up at the hotel across the street so weā€™d hang out after closing.

This year they are toying with the idea of letting us stay late to hang a bit at least one day.

It is kinda crazy. It is a long day and very draining, so hanging for very long is hard. You get a lot of little conversations thought the day. Butā€¦ The more of us that come out, we can rotate and get some time away from the booth, and it could be less draining. There were 5 of us last time and I think we all were talking to people 90% of the timeā€¦all day.

To me this was much busier than MRRF.

For me it is crazy fun and it feels like forums in real life.

So if you are coming, hang with us. Spend some time trying to explain some of the machines to people that have never seen one, talking to people about projects they made with one, or shoving a sticker in peoples hands that are just watching them work.

You can hang out all day everyday, or just a bit one day, and anywhere in between.

With my corporate discount I rented a car for 2 days and drove from san diego CA to Denver and it cost about $250, I think. The gas was $150 or so. I caught covid before our flight home so we opted to drive instead. My discount is pretty crazy, but I didnā€™t think it would be $2600. That makes the train much more appealing. At some point, it would be cheaper to buy a car

It also means we get a few tables to set up our stuff and sit behind when it gets packed. :+1:

It is also how the non profit RMRRF pays for the building and stuff.

I really enjoyed that time at the hotel. I didnā€™t really like driving back home (even though it was 75 mins or so). I am considering staying there anyway. Itā€™s only two nights.

A very long time ago a colleague of mine used to do that - he had a yard somewhere near LAX that was at the crash and burn end of the market so heā€™d arrange for a dunger worth a few hundred dollars, spend a week in LA on business without changing the paperwork, then leave it in the carpark at the airport with keys in the ignition and a six pack of beer on the front seat for the finder!

I am about an hour from Loveland, so planning on being there.

If there is anything I can do in regards to helping with this let me know. I am close enough to be a ship to point or such, if that helps. Open to ideas.

Heck yeah!! Thanks.

Is your printer going to be there? I havenā€™t seen too much on it but Iā€™ve been curious if itā€™ll be my next ā€œuseful roboticsā€ project (I know thatā€™s not the right word but thatā€™s how I describe it to myself )
