This was a tile technique with black âbumper paintâ and the laser etched away the paint to reveal the white tile. It looks dithered.
@dkj4linux . We all wanted you to see this.
I had a blast! It was a privilege to hang with you guys!
Nice work you lot!
I thought that episode needed a link - but youtube sends my comments to the sin bin whenever I insert a link! It lasted long enough to make a screenshotâŚ
Ahhh that was rad! You should have stayed with us for a while. I was running around like a madman and then you were gone. Next time!
I had to deal with my kids, too. If they werenât there, then I would have stayed longer. Still, it was great meeting yaâll there.
Looks like a great time! So many cool things to see and so many incredible brains packed into one area. If I wasnât on the other side of the country I would have been there in a heartbeat.
I canât wait to see what ideas you all have formulated in your brainstorming sessions and from seeing other builds. Itâs so nice to get that creative drive flowing again I am sure!
Atlas, won an award at RMRRF, not sure which one. But those are spent coffee grounds, Not even very finely ground. He was using the two binders mixed in and pushing it through the syringe. I suspect this could get refined to make some temporary parts that you would want to decompose sooner than later. I kept thinking garden signs, or row markers.
Bummer this was so blurry as they, Atlas, were also extruding their own string, I guess you would call it. Two extremely out of the box 3D printing applications.
Big prints with my stickers on them, gotta love that!
This printer that was also shared above was an Annex Engineering build, https://store.annex.engineering/, but the part that caught my attention was that HD 7" vertical screen. Then as you saw above the wiring was super clean, very very clean.
And here is a short clip of that display!
After a good nightâs sleep, and a minimum clearing of built up tasks, I am still riding on the dopamine from an awesome weekend.
I enjoyed talking to everyone that came by the booth. We had some very good questions and some serious interest. A ton of âInternet friendsâ stopped by and it was so cool to meet you all.
@barry99705, @jamiek, @azab2c, @dwkisker : You were all great to finally meet. I had a great time in the booth living that shared experience. I know each of us made a big impact. It was really great talking technical and brainstorming different problems and solutions.
Ryan, donât be modest. None of this would be possible without you. You were full of kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness and creativity. It was great getting to know you even better and help make the weekend a success.
Special thanks to your significant other (I wonât dox her here). She brought an insightful perspective, (snacks) and I know she made you more confident and comfortable.
Thank you all for being at the RMRRF and bringing a MPCNC, Low Rider and the 3D Printer. I am looking forward to building my 2nd V1 project a Low Rider. I will be looking through my parts bins and compiling a list of what I will need this week. I am looking forward to this build.
I do not even know how to put these sorts of feelings into words. I will be riding this high for a very long time.
This was such a special experience for me. I had a booth full of friends, not employees, just a group of people that share a common passion. Getting to learn more about you personally and sharing real live laughs was so awesome.
I absolutely could not, and would not want to do it without you all. That includes everyone that did not get to attend. I realized I am fueled by the excitement shared between us and this could very easily feel like a job to me but rarely does because someone around here is always excited about something and that keeps me going. That show though, that was a gigantic motivation to keep this going and progress, innovate (collectively), if nothing else just to do it again and have something new and exciting to share next year!
Listening to all of you talk to the visitors at the show was heartwarming and surreal. The way everyone shared experiences, sprinkled in some sarcasm, a lot of laughs and smiles were shared with complete strangers. There were no canned responses, no robot bullet point delivery of selling points. I loved that we were not and did not actually have to sell anything, we just got to share our passion and answer enthusiastic questions. I suspect we will be seeing a lot of new faces around here real soon.
To add a bit about the complete strangers we got to talk to, we had the full age spectrum, and they were all very equally excited about the possibilities of what they could do with one of the machines. That was awesome to see. Young young children would light up at the sight of something, and some people with a lot more gray than me had the exact same look in their eye. Magical.
I was pulled aside by three different young people that actually said âI want to do what you do, how do you freely share your work and actually make a livingâ I almost cried then, and it almost happened just typing that. They questioned me about how I make it work and what first steps they can take to get started or give it a try. I answered every question they and and did it again when they would circle back around with a few more follow ups. I also think I might have encouraged a newly retired person to start a new business based on their personal projects they shared so passionately with me. So not only are we having a lot of fun around here, we have started to inspire a whole new group of people to do the same.
I know I privately shared my apprehension and anxiety about the licensing fiasco drama from a whole back with a handful of you. I am happy to report I experienced zero flack for that, and none of the fellas mentioned any to me either. If anything, I actually got a couple encouraging words about it.
I learned a lot, and want to do it again!
Thank you all, there is really no way actually express my gratitude in words.
Shoot I almost forgot.
P.S.
The ZenXY and Sandify were far and away the stars of the booth. If you search twitter for #rmrrf, you will see a million pictures of them. What an attention getter! Expect a revamp soon, We discussed a few fixes to make things even easier. Clearly I need to pay more attention to that project.
That makes me think of that Carl Sagan quote:
What new wonders, undreamt of in our time, will we have wrought in another generation, and anotherâŚ
The idea that youâve sparked someoneâs imagination to do something none of us here would ever dream of is really something you should be proud of. Who knows what the people youâve touched will come up, what a gift!
I really like the little tabletop design @jeffeb3 came up with for the ZenXY. I have thought of building one of these for a while, but donât really have room for a table. With that tabletop design, I could find room for that & put it out of the way if needed. How about a modification to the frame to make it 3d printable in multiple parts?
I responded over in the build thread for the table:

I hope to at least see some comments and B roll from some of the other big names. If anyone sees any mentions, please share.

This must be sat afternoon. I see the trinket my daughter left. On the table:
This clip feature is great for the livestreams.
Well if it helps, it did reading that.

Well guys, I can feel the good times as I read your various posts. I hope the memories live very long indeed.
Well done to all who attended and thanks for the updates.
