I just purchased a reprap discount smart lcd and it just flashes and beeps. I tried both of your firmware versions, tried the newest release of marlin and uncommented the section for this lcd etc… tried switching the wiring terminals.
Nothing.
No luck any ideas?
It wont display, just a quick backlight flash and beep every second and n display at all.
I am using the MKS gen 1.4 board.
Did you change everything else you need to for the nks boards in the firmware?
The one I have had the ribbon cable terminals on backwards. I had to pull off the plastic housing off the board so I could turn it around. you will need to follow the #1 pin to verify.
I have the same issue on power up. LCD Screen sits there chirping and flashing. Using the Rambo 1.4 board and the LCD Screen. Both purchased from V1 Engineering, so they should be flashed correctly. Connected them using this wiring picture…https://www.v1engineering.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/RAMBo-LCD-Connection.jpg. The connectors go only one way on the back of the LCD screen. Any suggestions?

Turn the plugs around on the rambo, face them the other way, same port.

This fixed the problem for me as well, ie reversing the orientation of the plugs but keeping each to the same port. I’ve got to think that this is a pretty common problem, maybe include this “fix” more prominently in the instructions/assembly write-up rather than having folks search and dig in the forums? Just my opinion. Thnx for a great product!
