I have been running mpcnc for years with mini rambo - controlled with my compuuter . I wouid like to replace the rambo , the simplest & quickest way – without a lot of rewiring ? — HELP !
Thanks , Joe
Greetings, Joe. Welcome back to the forums!
Are you using a gcode sender? If so, which one?
What is it you’d like to improve with your replacement?
Any controller will require some amount of rewiring.
The latest controller that Ryan sells is the Jackpot V3, and it fully supports the MPCNC.
The environment may be a very different from what you are used to, though.
Most folks use the Jackpot over a wireless network and not with a sender (It can still be done, but it takes a bit of setup).
The FluidNC system uses a web app so you can drive it with a phone or tablet or computer and all of the operations are usually run from an SD card installed in the jackpot.
If you can tell us more about your MPCNC and your workflow, I’ll bet we can help you find the best options to improve your setup.
An added bonus of switching to the Jackpot is you can have endstops on your X and Y axis. I really like having those on my MPCNC now. You would need 4 extenders and 4 endstops to take advantage of them. If you don’t want to add endstops, you can simply unplug the mini rambo and plug into the Jackpot. The cost of the extenders and endstops isn’t that much, so I opted to add them to mine. It amazes me how much more you can do with the Jackpot vs. the mini rambo, and it’s less expensive too.
At the moment I can do without the endstops. [ in the middle of a project for my grand kids and all is crashed]. Is there a difference in the hookup wiring btween the original Jackpot and the Jackpot v3 ? If I can get a new board to switch out and get up and running that would be great !! I dont mind a little extra expence – I am generating gcode with estlcam - thanks , Joe
Yes, you can plug it in and go after setting up the config. I would order the extensions and endstops and you can install them later.
Thanks for the comeback. I have been running the mpcnn with mini rambo for years and suddenly everything “crashed “. So I have ordred a new jackpot 3 . My guess is that you may be hearing a lot from me once it arrives– Thanks again , Joe
I am trying to set up the jackpot 3 to run for now without end stops . i get a message abt limited environment and that i need to tell the jackpot to disable ends .I am lost .???
This explains the Jackpot 3 in detail:
