That’s why you need beta testers that aren’t trying to do exotic processes, materials, and use cases. It would have really sucked indeed for the 90% use case to be no good. (Queue the exotic processes commentary in 3… 2… 1… ) :slight_smile:

@Tokoloshe Imagine a world where you order stuff in say November one year, but you don’t receive it until the very first day of the summer holidays and you have to spend the next six weeks staring at an unwrapped box while you entertain your kids!

I haven’t even got mine yet. What makes me a little anxious is this:

Sounds like MMU3 all over again, missing 0.6 and 0.25 nozzles… I hope it’s not. On the other hand: that’s something that Claude can do very well, I would not have to figure it out manually again. :sweat_smile:

Can you explain to me please, how the sum total of human expertise can tweak and twiddle and test and slowly come to a conclusion after zillions of hours of research, yet, Claude, apparently, armed with only the ability to summarise existing knowledge, can give an answer that the humans can’t?
That doesn’t make sense! :thinking:

Prusa is making it super frustrating to support them.

We just bought a SnapMaker U1 at the local small makerspace after doing a fund raiser for it. 4 tool complete machine for less than the INDX kit, it shipped the same day we ordered it.

It arrived, set up, and worked flawlessly right out of the box.

The INDX upgrades for Prusa machines is a complete execution failure on Prusa + Bondtech’s part.

I’m willing to support Prusa but only to a point, and that point is close to passing for me due to their horribly bad execution.

I’ve had my eye on the snapmaker. What is its downside?

I can feed Claude the config and tell it to find the patterns for the nozzles and to add 0.6 and 0.25. It can do what I can do but faster. :stuck_out_tongue: The only reason they didn’t put it into the MMUs profile was that it wasn’t perfect? I don’t know, I did it manually.

Care to elaborate? Bondtech refused to ship a product that wasn’t perfect, Prusa also does that and I am completely on board with it. And if it isn’t perfect they tinker and improve until it is. But I think we’ve had that discussion at least thrice before.

Prusa is not delivering on product development at pace.

One could argue that Bondtech and Prusa were unwilling to ship a product that isn’t perfect, but your own experiences with the MMU show that Prusa is absolutely willing to ship straight up flawed products.

Prusa products are generally quite good. They’re not so good as to justify 4x price vs their competitors.

At this point, for me, the Bondtech/Prusa INDX delays are not looking like refinement. It’s looking like petty infighting and inability to move at pace.

It’s a proprietary system. That’s it’s pimary disadvantage.

You can get a U1 for under $1000 right now at the online bookseller. Could have it in 2 days.

There’s a Sovol one that I think is going up on Kickstarter that has IDEX and with one of them being a toolchanger. 300x300x350 build area. Haven’t looked at it in detail (not sure there even is much detail) but if that reviews well that could be a pretty compelling package

The space is getting very interesting. I’m very happy to see toolchangers starting to take off, especially with there being some innovation.

When we bought the one for the makerspace, we also grabbed a package of .6 hotends. Some weird community member insisted on that. I wonder who that might be… :slight_smile:

In a humorous turn, I printed the official Prusa toolbox lid for my Core One L on… the SnapMaker U1

Edit- the weird artifacts around the letter are because OrcaSlicer hasn’t yet incorporated all the changes to slicing for mulit-color. Those black circles around the white and orange letters shouldn’t be. It should’ve printed the colors first then laid down the black as all solid fill.

It’s refinements like that which I would expect from Prusa, but at the pace they are moving everyone else will beat them to it.

I put a reservation on that one for when it comes up on Kickstarter. Though they were supposed to have the early birds ready by the end of June….

Come to think of it, my MacBook.3mf file I purchased last weekend blew the budget for any new printer for a while.

That also means we’re moving to the next phase. There’s been a lot happening around INDX lately: new hardware improvements (the new docking panel, the nozzle cleaner and waste bin, the tool offset sensor for automatic offset calibration), EasyPrint and PrusaSlicer updates, ColorMix, and much more!

I wonder how the boys at Prusa have kept quiet all this time! Might pay to check out this stuff before you begin assembly!
